Yes, it’s true. Although, should it really be much of surprise? Harpercons have scrapped an 88M$ AIDS vaccine project.
Well, I can pretty much guess why. A few probable possible reasons come to mind, like heavy lobbying from big pharmaceutical companies who would be afraid of losing money from the sales of their HIV / AIDS cocktails. Stupid, though. A vaccine to prevent AIDS could be a relief to our health care system.
The other thing I could think of is there are no more HIV/AIDS patients, who would Stevie and his evangelical flunkies have to kick around as scapegoats?
Yanno, a facebook buddy of mine reminded me that ol’ Stock Day (knowing this individual; he also means pretty much all the evangelical Harpercons as well) comes from a culture that believes the world is 6000 years old and dinosaurs and humans co-existed.
Which leads me to my next guess: probably no more money after they decided to support this ‘faith-based’ project out of Winnipeg to corrupt youth into religious wingnuttery and other ways of brainwashing Canada into the Evangelical far right sub-culture. Yeah, that’s it!
Actually, it’s all of the above.
Another question for neo-cons; please explain to the rest of the thinking world why it’s not a waste of money to promote religious extremism but it is a waste to come up with a vaccine to prevent the further pain and suffering of HIV/AIDs or any other terrible disease like Cancer for instance? I know cancer wasn’t spoken of, but I can’t help but wonder about that too…
Stay classy Harpercons!
