Europe is Endangering Peace Because It’s too Pacifistic?

Let’s get this straight folks: Those  damned, evil, socialist  Europeans are just hampering efforts for peace by  being “an impediment to achieving real security and lasting peace in the 21st century.”

I first saw this over at Bill Longstaff’s and had to read it twice to believe it. What’s even more shocking is that it is coming from the Obama administration. Remember when I mentioned he was considered too much like George W Bush?  I think this latest stunt by Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates pretty much proves that this administration is starting to resemble too much like Georgie and Dickie’s era.

Gates told security experts and NATO officials that “European pacification had just gone too far”. So, just so we don’t misunderstand each other, Robbie, in order to have peace and security in the world, we must be in an aggressive bloody conflict where many lives are sacrificed for a corrupt regime in order to have world peace? Ok, can somebody please help me out here? How does that work?

Oh, and  apparently,  Europe is not spending enough on the war effort.

”Not only can real or perceived weakness be a temptation to miscalculation and aggression, but … the resulting funding and capability shortfalls make it difficult to operate and fight together to confront shared threats.”

Poor Robbie, these European countries want to use their budgets for taking care of their own citizens rather than blow it all on that senseless war in Afghanistan.  My! My! Whatever will you do?

The Dutch coalition government had a war of sorts in their own cabinet only to have their troops  packing it in to come home this August as planned anyway. Damn those Dutch pacifists!

Oh, and the U.S. isn’t one to talk about non-cooperation with the Europeans.  While England’s soldiers have lost their lives in both Iraq and Afghanistan for the war mongering Americans, the U.S. has been refusing England’s request for help in dealing with Argentina over the Falklands it would seem. Not that I”m in agreement with any other war over oil happening in the world by any stretch of the imagination, but it must be a slap in the face to England after all their sacrifices to the war efforts in the Middle-East for the Americans. I certainly see the irony here. I hope England does rethink its’ part in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Sadly, not likely to happen though, after all, we can’t have the U.S. accuse them of being …pacifist and not pulling their weight in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Since when has the U.S. been peaceful for any significant length of time, anyway? Cold war, Korea, the illegal war in Vietnam, Desert Storm and now Iraq and Afghanistan. No wonder the terrorists go after them. Well, it’s only a part of the reason, as I maintain that  the main reasons for the terrorists winning are because of American arrogance, paranoia, greed and materialism.
