Steve, How’s That Overpriced Security and Putting the Tax Payers of Toronto Under Siege Workin’ For Ya?

Well, with the billions being spent  (approx millions spent by the minute) on overpriced security;  Do ya think Steve is getting bang for the tax payers’ dollars? Uh oh! Me thinks not!

Then we see one set of rules, four pages long for residents living inside the perimeter.  I knew these beleaguered tax payers were now living in a police state.  But, to what extent, well, let’s just say I’m shocked, but then, this is Stevie Spiteful’s dream world; his playground for the rest of the week; his utopia should he achieve that majority; why should we be surprised?

Here are suggestions of things we would normally do, but won’t be allowed to do during the summit:

  • Pick up parcels.
  • Use any of the building’s stairwells (unless in the event of emergency, of course).
  • Order food for delivery.
  • Have guests (if you expect a guest, they must be pre-registered by June 24).
  • Hang out in the lobby (read: no loitering).
  • Wear anything other than T-shirts outside the building (because wearing business attire may put us in a “susceptible” position).
  • Engage in conversations with the protesters.
  • Leave the building in our cars (I need more exercise anyway).
  • Use the barbecue, patio or recreation areas (you know, because cooking some meat or running on the treadmill may or may not attract hungry, exercise-seeking protesters).

If I were in Toronto or if Steve brought this into Downtown Montreal, I would be livid. Hell, I already am livid due to the fact my family lives in TO, although, they’re outside the perimeter, but barely, according to my brother. A few of the above rules do piss me off more than others though.

Even the hospitals are preparing by turfing patients to nursing homes and / or rehab centers to make way for these G20 related injuries. What happens to residents who inconveniently get sick or hurt in any way not related to this shindig?  Worse yet. How about if they die or suffer permanent damage to their health because they couldn’t access a Hospital ER or clinic fast enough due to this hootenanny?  Oh yeah! Right, St-Stevie has no empathy for anyone! As long as Steve has his photo op and gets to live his little utopia for awhile, who cares about some sick tax payers, right?

Rules like such as no visitors allowed unless they’re registered before June 24.  Neo-cons, Blogging SupposiTories, feel free to jump in anytime here. Don’t you all usually whine when your government tries to legislate what happens in your own home? Yanno, freedom and back off gov’t and all that crap you find sanctimonious?

How about no parcels? What about groceries? Or Prescription meds?

And this doozy that should scare all:  no engaging in conversation with protesters. Wow! Like the protesters during off time without their groups, placards, and / or other distinguishable accessories like armbands are soooo easily identifiable by the rest of the world? What if one of these protesters happens to be a family member or friend or your neighbour or even your co-worker; even your boss (ok, not likely, but could happen and using example as to how far Steve could take this in the future)?

I thought Neo-cons embraced business and the right to practice it freely.  Hell, here’s a question I would love to see the Blogging SupposiTories take on: Don’t you cons always complain about evul ’Soshalist’  commies taking away freedoms and individual rights?  Who knew Steve was one of them evul soshalist commies?

I hope the folks at Guiness Book of World Records is paying attention as this has got to be the most expensive photo op in the world, evuh!  Just think of what all these billions can cover!

The money spent on the summits could cover the cost of operating all three Waterloo Regional hospitals for two years. It would also cover the first year tuition of nearly 200,000 university students.

But those are unworthy causes as they would actually help the community, heal the sick or educate our youth for tomorrow, right?

While I don’t condone acts of violence or vandalism and I don’t want to see anyone get hurt: I hope the protests will be the highlight of  week-end. I hope they succeed in penetrating the police state and wrecking Steve’s little utopia. Then again, perhaps that would play into Steve’s hands as he would just get another validation for building overpriced, big-assed private prisons

Would Stevie still say it was all worth it in the end? Will his cheerleaders in the media and the Blogging SupposiTories?
