More About the (Ahem!) “Compassionate” Rethuglicans, Tea-baggers, & other Cons

I just caught the link to the frightening video below. Many of the still images are so reminiscent of images we see in old newspapers and history books of the sights of The Great Depression. In fact, only the fact that they’re in colour and that the scenery looks somewhat modern separates the fact those pics were taken in 2009-2010 and those taken during The Great Depression.

If you think Glenn Beck is offensive, Rush Limbaugh makes him look like a near saint and Glenn Beck is stomach turning enough here, so you can well imagine. As offensive as they are, they are saying exactly what Stevie Spiteful and his flunkies in caucus and cheerleaders in the right slanted media as well as the Blogging SupposiTories are thinking.

I’m not in Florida. I don’t know how bad or good Alan Grayson is. I’m not sure if he’s one of those Blue dogs owned by corporations and it wouldn’t surprise me if I heard that he was. However, what he says is correct. He must be the lesser of the evuls between him and his Rethuglican counterpart.

We poke fun at the ignorance, wingnuttery and utter stupidity of the tea-baggers and so enjoy pointing out their hypocrisy on so many issues in snarky fashion, but what is happening in the US as well as the rest of the world, including Canada very soon, if Stevie gets away with an austerity budget and wins his precious majority.

It would be nice if Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh could lose their shows, but they earn more in one year than they could ever possibly spend in a lifetime that it wouldn’t matter to them; they would simply go yucking it up to the bank and retire under some palm tree. Too bad. I ordinarily don’t wish harm on anyone and criticize those who do, but lately, I find myself wishing ill on all those conbot psychos as it is the only way they may just learn empathy and life isn’t as easy as taking personal responsibility and removing the welfare state won’t magically get the poor and disenfranchised magically on the work force.

By the by, here’s what Kevin Hasset, director of economic policy studies at AEI, a very conservative think tank, had to suggest to employers and listen up employers outside the US as well as many countries as part of their fashionable austerity packages include firing public servants in droves.

My idea is simpler. Find the unemployed and hire them.

“Employers don’t want to take a chance on some guy without a job for two years,” he said. “The cycle is so long and deep that the cyclical becomes the structural.” The easiest way for the government to end somebody’s jobless spell is, very simply, to end it by straight-up hiring the worker.

“Since the economy has created this class of long-term jobless, the arguments for government hiring become stronger,” he said. “If you give the person a job for a while, it helps them get a job later. You remove the stigma.”

Wow! A novel idea from a Conservative, just crazy enough, it might just work!

But, we all know that the tea-baggers on both sides of the border are now going to classify Mr. Hasset as “not a true conservative” but a ranting “evul soshalist”!

The video is depressing but it also cites facts and figures that are too alarming and important for anyone to ignore.
