Hey Harpercons Coo-Coo For Tough On Crime: Why Aren’t You Denouncing This?

In Harpercon incumbent, young dipshit Pierre Pollievre’s southern Ottawa riding of Carleton-Nepean, the Liberal candidate, Ryan Keon had all or almost all of his signs defaced with crosshair scrawls. I see someone has been learning civility, civics and democracy from Sarah Palin.   Many like myself strongly believe this is the handy work of Harpercon cheerleaders.  Who else hates the idea of opposition to King Stevie in parliament this much?  Who else learns from such a mentor as pathologically obsessive about annihilating the Federal Liberal Party as those shrieking monkeys are?  Even the separatists never sought to destroy the party–they just don’t want them in Quebec.

Then, when many decried the hostility of political discourse happening in the US which led to that fateful shooting in Tuscon, Arizona which seriously wounded Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and killed many including a federal judge and a nine year old girl.  Remember how those neocons on both sides of the border dismissed it as wacky lefty rhetoric? Over here, right wingnuts  like ol’ Peggy Wente thought our denouncing of the tea-party rhetoric and Sarah Palin’s crosshairs ‘made Rush Limbaugh seem rational’ (Yes, she really said that!).  I do wonder what Peggy Wente would have to say about the defaced signs? She’d probably applaud as long as it wasn’t Pierre Pollievre signs.  Hell, Stevie Spiteful was quite cavalier about the whole thing.

Obviously, the NDP and the Green supporters would never stoop this low.  There are no Bloc supporters in Ottawa and even if there were, I don’t think they would go beyond stupid moustaches and blacked out teeth, not that I condone that act, just sayin’ that I’ve never heard of such an act perpetrated by separatists on so many signs. According to this commenter at “Jacked up”, this kind of thing has been happening in other Ottawa area ridings as well, including that of John Baird.  I checked over at the Blogging SupposiTories’ aggregate, and, well, crickets, basically. Their priorities are elsewhere, like CBC watch, how scary the social programs offered in the Liberals’ campaign are to tax payers,  and the usual crap about how dreamy Stevie is and how the media is treating him so badly.  They’d probably blame the Liberals for this anyway, saying it’s nothing more than a cheap publicity stunt, at the very least, to cover their asses.

I will also say that, having worked in the large format printing business as an estimator in 2008 where we had federal and provincial election signs to print, 2000$ for one candidates’ signs to cover a riding isn’t exaggerated. In fact, to have new ones printed, it may cost more now, assuming the riding association asks for a rush job, which would probably require overtime.

Worse than the monetary cost of reprinting and reinstalling signs, worse than complaints of taxes to improve health care and pensions for seniors,   is a cost we’re about to pay for our continued complacency in such acts and such laissez-faire and at times, negative attitudes toward what’s left of our democracy.

I sincerely hope that Mr. Keon (as well as other candidates who may have been affected in this way, of course) doesn’t back out of his candidacy.  Whether you like him or not; whether you support his party or not; if he is intimidated enough to resign his candidacy because of this incident, it sends a negative message; that all one has to do is engage in this stupid behavior to be rid of a candidate or party they don’t like.  Is this the Canada we really want?

Oh, and to the Harpercon cheerleaders who are all ga ga giddy for Stevie’s big-assed prisons and tough on crime shit,  where are you on this?

  • Remember, for the Harper Conservatives rules are for other people.

It feels good to be on the dark side.

How silly of me for forgetting about special Harpercon rules. Thanks for reminding me!

The cross hair graffiti is a dead giveaway. Remember that stupid You Tube positing in the last election that had cross hairs over Dion. It was disgusting then and still is now.

I think the signs should be left up with a message “Defaced by a Conservative” added. It would be an eloquent reminder of why Harper and his minions shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near power.

  • Every Conservative — every Canadian — should be shamed by this. Anyone who thinks this is no big deal is deluded. Gabrielle Giffords is the consequence of this kind of madness.
