Our liberal media. Not so liberal. Media political endorsements, election 2011.

Liberal media, my ass. If anyone ever had a doubt about our media being almost exclusively not merely Conservative but full-on right wing, take a gander at this puppy. You can dismiss these numbers because they are represented in Wikipedia, but I bet they’re right on.

Here are the media endorsements of political parties in 2011:

  • Conservatives: 31
  • NDP: 2
  • Bloc: 1
  • Liberals: 0
  • Greens: 0

Listen folks, this is our media represented here. They are supposed to be impartial news gatherers, not just puppets of a single political party. Yet the great majority of newspapers have endorsed a diseased party without blinking. The Conservatives have ransacked our national identity and acted in a repeated unethical, amoral and illegal manner. Harper’s plans for our future, in the event of a Conservative majority, are even more dire.

But the facts and reality have little to do with today’s journalism, especially in Canada. The Conservatives have been propped up by a journalistic body that is rotting from corruption and lassitude. And it will do anything to blame anyone or anything other than themselves or the Conservatives.

Yet the media and Conservative bloggers keep harping on Canada’s ‘liberal media’, as if that fools anyone. Judging from the NDP surge, Canadians are not buying it. They just are not paying attention anymore. We’ve had enough of slanted Conservative bullshit from our newspapers and televisions.

  • Thank you for the update, it just drives home something I’ve screeched and ranted about for years – the Media are not liberal, they’re capitalist.

And capitalists tend to the conservative, because they want to stamp on everyone else’s fingers and stay on top.

The people best informed about the crimes of the CPC Government are nevertheless overwhelmingly recommending more of the same. If I were a more extreme man I’d be sharpening up the pitchforks and bill hooks before I started on making torches and buying rope.

But I am a peaceful and forgiving man, so I’ll just stop watching, reading and listening to “news”. I will keep the pitchforks and bill hooks handy though… you never know.

  • The very idea of the so-called ‘liberal’ or ‘left leaning’ media is a completely misleading and fraudulent statement. The media in Canada are in the pockets of big business and politicians who are in the pockets of big business. We, the people, have no voice anymore in this God damned country, not even on our own, publicly funded CBC. I have heard these assholes quoting the ultra right wing Fraser Institute a lot lately, which disgusts me.
When the Globe and Mail openly endorsed the harpercons last week, I swore that would be the last time I ever pick up a newspaper in this fucking country. What a stupid thing to do! I think a lot of intellectuals and progressives thought they had some kind of ally in the Globe and here we were, slapped in the proverbial face by these corporate loving lapdog whores. Never again, Globe and Mail! I expect this kind of crap from the National Post, but the Globe?
So, that is it, then. With the new Sun TV, Global, The Post, The Suns, The Provinces, Bell Globe Media, CTV all owned by pro-Harper capitalist robots, we have to officially declare the ‘liberal’ media a complete fucking farce.
Good luck, Liberals, NDP, Greens. You will need it.
