Michele “Crazy Eyes” Bachmann makes cover of Newsweek. Wingnuts not pleased.

Have to admit this week’s cover of Newsweek featuring a crazed-looking Michele Bachmann is not exactly flattering. But it is an accurate portrait. The cover features Bachmann looking like, well, Bachmann. And it goes along nicely with the accompanying story title: “The Queen of Rage”.

But ever so sensitive rightbloggers – such as fancy pants Michelle Malkin – are hyperventilating at the image. Malkin calls the cover a “Conservative crazy eyes cliché.”

Except there’s no cliché here. Even Bachmann at her most normal looks likes she’s crazed. So does Nancy Pelosi at times – a trait to which the right (and SNL) takes endless pleasure in pointing out. But you never hear Malkin or any of her co-nutters having any problem with Pelosi’s portrayal. I wonder why.

Perhaps Michelle is just mad because she has the craziest eyes of them all (not to mention that lovely upper lip snarl). Jealousy’s a bitch.

UPDATE: Will this tempest in a teapot rescue Bachmann’s faltering campaign?

But now Tina Brown has saved Bachmann’s campaign with this cover, which, in the victimization sweepstakes, puts her right back in the running with Perry (they hate him because he loves Jesus!) and Palin (they tried to destroy her movie!) in the eyes of right-wing voters.
