Is It Just Me…

Or does anyone else notice the timing of this story regarding former GG Adrienne Clarkson’s taxpayer paid secretarial help?  Not that I condone this kind of thing, but I have noticed the tea-party shriekers in full force on Twitter all looking for fainting couches on Twitter this morning after this story broke.

However, I’m not hearing these same buffoons making as big a fuss as they should regarding the ol’ Walt Natynczyk’s jet setting on the Government plane for his little sun vacation in the Caribbean, Petey MacKay’s being, ahem, “rescued” from his little fishing expedition in Newfoundland via government paid search and rescue helecopter (by the by, making unavailable this helecopter for someone may have really needed a search and rescue), and of course, other joyrides from various Harpercons, using the government Challenger for joyrides. And let’s not forget Stevie Spiteful using the gov’t jet to attend a hockey game in Boston. All of which, by the by, are more costly than a secretary for Adrienne Clarkson. No secretary is that well paid!

Yet, none of that same group is make nearly as big a fuss.  In fact,  many of those Harpercon cheerleaders are practically twisting themselves into pretzels, defending this kind of use of the jets and that kind of Harpercon gov’t largesse. I guess these are just more items that go in the it’s ok if you’re a conservative files.

If it’s true that Adrienne Clarkson has been billing the taxpayers for her secretary, of course it shouldn’t be condoned, but what I am noticing is the conveenient timing of the right-winged media, releasing this just after the string of abuses regarding the use of government and military aircraft for jet setting by politicians and military types who are not even supposed to be using them at all in the first place.  How often have we seen a string of scandalous stories regarding Harpercon bad behavior, past and present, only to be overshadowed shortly afterward by some story of a lesser offense by someone outside of the Harpercons. The tactic works; the Harpercon cheerleaders with all the tea-bagger behavior and language they can muster, as fainting couches are generally in short supply when this happens. This time is no different.

Have you forgotten A.Clarkson and Hubby flying back and forth to the cottage every weekend? That’s one piece of government largess that should be abolished altogether.

Two wrongs don’t make a right. Pretty stupid to go back to Clarkson just to make a point. And really, is that the worst they’ve got in their arsenal?
