By George! Liz May Has Got It!

Poor BC Blue’s Dean Skoreyko, the resident McCarthyist of the Blogging SupposiTories. He’s having, yet, another bad day. He simply, well, turns, blue whenever someone figures out his beloved Harpercon end games. Today is no different, and his Harpercon killjoy du jour is Lizzie May.

From the CBC, taken from Today’s question period:

May: Mr. Speaker, earlier today I shared with the Minister of State (Democratic Reform) the newsletter of the Saanich Gulf Islands Conservative Party.

I am so proud to represent the people of Saanich–Gulf Islands, and I am sure he will be as distressed as I am by that party’s transparent plan for gerrymandering in hopes of winning the riding back.

They write, “If you remove south of Mckenzie, lose the Gulf Islands, lose Gordon Head, when you remove all these three areas, we would have won the last election”

Will the minister reassure us that the redistribution will be by population and not by population of Conservative voters?

Van Loan: Mr. Speaker, the statute is quite clear. It sets out a process for redistribution that is run on a non-partisan basis by independent commissions. Those will be underway in the appropriate time.

Under our legislation we will ensure that there is a formula in place that ensures people of Saanich–Gulf Islands, British Columbia, in fact, all of Canada, will have fair representation that has long been denied to them.

Lizzie May is referring to a newsletter that was circulated by the Conservative riding association in Saanich-Gulf Islands.

What?  Those Harpercons playing gerrymandering games? What? Never! To ensure those Harpercons continue leading for the unforeseeable future? It’s what I’ve been saying all along about those thirty new seats to be added.

Canadian Cynic, on Twitter, last night made a joke about all thirteen new Ontario ridings being in Tugboat Tony’s home riding of Muskoka. I don’t think he’s far off.  Any bets as to how many pieces they’ll slice Muskoka into?

Don’t think that Saanich-Gulf Islands is the only place there will be partisan gerrymandering on the part of the Harpercons, neither. It will be stamped on all the newly created ridings.

Good grief, folks, when will you ever learn the rule of thumb? If Stevie Spiteful is doing something you think may appear democratic, ask yourselves, “what’s the catch?”

I see the Quebec bashers on the CBC board are just livid. They seem to be outraged at the idea that Quebec would be overrepresented, but more than peachy keen with an underrepresented Quebec. Yeah, this Quebecer is sure feeling the love here.

It seems clear to me, that Harper’s actions lately are calculated to rekindle separatist sentiments in Quebec. His insistance on hanging the queen, the royal designation on military letterhead and now the blatant shut-out for shipbuilding in Quebec. Harper will use anti-sovereign sentiment to split the left vote in PQ, thus destroying his only opposition, the NDP.
