ck sent me a link this weekend, to a CTV story of a mother of a Canadian soldier speaking out against the war. Against War in general. She was eloquent and passionate, as you might expect of a woman who, having grown up with the Vietnam war, immigrated to Canada to provide a better . . . → Read More: Mothers Against Diabolical Dictatorships

I have been reading the blogs today and overwhelmingly we (progressive bloggers) agree that war is counterproductive. What really pisses me off is that we all agreed this 50 years ago, in the sixties. And if I am not mistaken, we came to the same conclusion after the Great War and then again . . . → Read More: Help!

Call them if you need help.
Initially when I heard that Health Canada would not be introducing new warnings and pictures on cigarette packages, I was appalled. Who could not want more labels, more warnings, more insight into the harm that tobacco addiction and cigarette use causes? You see, this hits . . . → Read More: Thought’s On A Father, Taken By Cancer

The story of two men dressed as a KKK member and as a black man with a noose around his neck at a Legion hall dance has caused a furore, and rightly so. Royal Canadian Legion headquarters has effectively closed RCL Campbellford Branch 103. I just received the news for the winners of Canadian Feminist Blog category of the Canadian Blog Awards.
Congratulations to Bina, Antonia Z. and the good women, Fern Hill and DeBeauxOs from Dammit Janet on Behalf of the gang here, at Sister Sage’s Musings. Couldn’t have happened to better bloggers.

OK, so this is gonna just come right off the top of my head. Holy crap. Are you serious? 31% of Canadians actually AGREE with the government’s line that Iggy thwarted Canada’s UN Security Council seat. What? I just cannot believe it. I’m almost at a loss for words. Almost!! This to me . . . → Read More: Are You Kidding Me? Seriously!? Thirty-One Percent!?!

Well, not by Canadian Blog Awards, at least, not yet and I find it unlikely that they would. However, the good women over at Dammit Janet had noticed there was no category for Feminist blogs at the Canadian Blog Awards and had made noise about it. Rightfully so, the fact that this group would overlook some . . . → Read More: Sister Sage’s Musings Just Got Nominated! And Dammit Janet Should Also Be Nominated! UPDATE

No, I’m not back to full time blogging, yet. Although, things are starting to come together, albeit slower than I would like. I am at the tail end of pneumonia, but for the first time since getting sick, took public transit, went out for coffee, and ran some errands and I’m exhausted!

A little about myself (if you know me from my blog, you can safely skip this paragraph): I’m a slightly cynical Emergency Department charge nurse who has seen everything from the sublime to the tragic to the tragically ridiculous working in a hospital somewhere in the GTA, i.e. anywhere in the space from . . . → Read More: So Who’s This TorontoEmerg Anyway?

The Left needs to consolidate, however it can. Yes, this means coalition, this means merging, this means coming together to fight the anti-fact(see the census issue), anti-diplomatic (see Conservative attitutdes towards Palistine), and anti-democratic (proroguations) Conservatives so we can deliver ourselves the country we want. In the last election 66% of us didn’t vote for the Conservatives. But they are in power. And we can no longer rest on our laurels and say “Oh well we didn’t vote for them.” Yes, we didn’t, but they are in power and will continue to be as the percentage of Canadians turn away from the polls. The vote will concentrate more and more in the hands of the right wing and the Conservative majority will come. For those who still aren’t convinced that there is a hidden agenda, just look to this past summer. The agenda came out. Harper has tried to put a lid on it, but the genie is out of the bottle. . . . → Read More: Logan Is Here. Get Ready to Rumble

I ran across an interesting blog in my travels today called Peak Oil Blues. A very well written blog by Kathy McMahon, Psy.D. It seems just like yesterday I began my first post when SSM was at blogspot, back in the days with those rather boring looking cookie-cutter themes. I noticed Blogger has improved on that since then.
