A Cheesy Song To Go With a Cheesy Photo

Oh looky here! Yes, it’s being circulated around.  Many intelligent captions in the column’s comments section. More commentary here. Also, being circulated on Twitter and Facebook.  Now what comes to mind when you first look at this?

Mr_lonely

Well, it does scream that his tabby cat has rejected him.  Or hell! Even his imaginary friends don’t like playing with him.

Yet, like any other photo of Steve, it just resonates cheesy. And now, unfortunately, I’ve got a matching cheesy song in my head now!!!

Aarrgghh!! Get outy! outy! outy!  What’s worse is I think this would be  Brother Steve’s favourite kind of music…next to elevator music  that is!

Now I’ve got to turn on my folky hippie music to get all that cheesiness out of my head. Perhaps I need another cheesy earworm. Neil Sedaka or Nickelback anyone?

Saturday Nite Nostalgia

It is rare I do both a Saturday Nite Nostalgia and a Saturday Nite Funnies on the same nite. In fact, this is the only time I’ve don this.

Given that rumour of Gordon Lightfoot’s ‘death’ was proven shortly afterward to be false and all the drama that came about . All this because of a tweet.

Ok, I’m a closet Gordon Lightfoot fan. So, tonight’s selections are a few from the reincarnated Mr. Lightfoot himself; too bad youtube didn’t carry him doing Rainy Day People ; a favorite of mine.  Oh Well…

Enjoy!

Saturday Nite Nostalgia

Well, in light of Stevie probably choosing which blue sweater vest to wear to some charity for his photo ops to fool Canadians, I thought this silly little number by the Kinks would be appropriate.

I’ve always been a fan of Johnny Rivers for some reason.  This particular song particularly reflects how I’ve been feeling lately, with all the migraines as of late.

Happy Saturday Nite All !

Saturday Nite Nostalgia

Well, it’s Saturday nite and that means time for either some comedy or nostalgia.

Ok, I’m about to go all 70s pop here.  This first video needs no introduction, except to say that I do have my sappy moments.

Gotta love that 70s garb. Orange flashy jumpsuit? Maybe one day I should devote a page to embarrassing 70s outfits and/or household decor.

This next video has not much of a visual, but the song is quite obscure. I used to think Neil Young did it and was surprised that it was actually Ian Thomas who did this song in 1974. It followed “Painted Ladies”. Unfortunately, “Come the Son” never made the top 40 (peaked at #41)

I also never knew he was Dave Thomas’ (of “Bob and Doug McKenzie” & “Grace Under Fire”) brother.

Funny, how I remembered both of those songs playing on my mom’s old transistor in the kitchen of our old apartment, playing the now defunct CKGM.

Enjoy!
