As is probably BC with their troubles , according to emails i’ve been receiving since I’ve posted this. But do you think the likes of Maclean’s will actually write about that??

Alberta is easily the most corrupt! The oil companies run everything. We just don’t hear much because the government there is non-transparent. And, frankly, everyone is in on it.

Some of the BC bloggers have been telling me that whatever we have going on in Quebec isn’t better or worse than what is going on in BC, or anywhere else at any given time.

Yes, I agree, on both ends it’s good for us all to widen the conversation. We learn so much more about how our regional problems are really symptoms of a larger problem. If we progressives can stay focused on the big picture, we can hopefully steer Canada back to the centre, at the very least.

The balance of power has been co-opted by the Prime Ministers Office. The scales of justice have been tilted towards the money and the RCMP has become a joke, a partisan paramilitary organization benefitting hugely from the fear based economy of the Neo-cons. We have work to do.

Plus I added a video that should bring back memories that I thought suitable for the post. Take a look now.

Goes to show that it happens everywhere, that it’s not exclusive to Quebec. What I don’t like is that media outside Quebec likes to use us as their whipping boy, and as such, it gets the rest of Canada in a frenzy. Not progressives so much, but conservative Canadians. I would be curious to know how much of my post some of those blogging suppositories believe??

I asked Karl to come up with a paragraph or two or some one liners. When he emailed them to me, I read it over, and I didn’t find it offensive. He didn’t particularly poke at one group, specifically; he took a shot at all of them. He enhanced every stereotype out there and it’s the kind of humour I actually appreciate. The point is we all have to stop and laugh at ourselves from time to time, including my fellow thin skinned Quebecers. But then, it all comes down to likes and dislikes, I suppose. What one may find funny, another one wouldn’t so much. That’s ok.

Did I find article #1 offensive regarding Quebec? Yes. Do I find the Bonhomme Carnavale on the cover in that context offensive? Definitely–it’s synonymous to telling a five year old that Santa Clause and the tooth fairy don’t exist. But I also know that sometimes these separatists Franco paranoiacs lend themselves to it.

All that said, as mentioned above, I, like other Quebecers am tired of my province being ROC’s whipping boy and I find it curious that they don’t splash other provinces’ political scandals and such nearly as much. As I’ve pointed out, were it not for your posts and a few other Progressive bloggers hailing from out west, I would be ignorant as to the happenings out there, however, I’m sure they would all know about the Quebec articles in short order. So, I have to say, I’m really glad you came on board and keep the posts coming, it’s probably the most accurate info I’ll have from out west, besides my fellow western prog bloggers.

I don’t have to tell you it’s been a stressful week in politics, in the news, therefore, by extension, to the blogosphere, I thought it was time to lighten things up.

Except the part where the author ridiculed almost every part of Canada. That part was quite revealing of their respect for their own audience.

As for political corruption, according to the Head of CSIS, Mr. Fadden, that award goes to BC, although we have all seen it across the country, including Saskachewan, who I always considered the cradle of progressive socialism in Canada.
