Some don’t. Regardless. I do know that most have a distaste for Bill 78 even if they were against the protests. Another thing to note that it wasn’t just students sporting red squares anymore. I saw many grey haired folks at my supermarket sporting them as well as some STM bus drivers.

Traction in the fall– Which will win the soundbite in the fall should be the election question– the protests or The Charbonneau INquiry? I think Charest purposely allowed the former to go into crisis mode to distract from the latter. I see no reason for him to change that tactic anytime soon.

But the Charest meeting intrigues me. Is Harper seeking to endorse Charest’s hard line against the students? Because as you know the province is divided, most oppose the strike, and Harper can smell a wedge issue better than a hog can smell truffles. As for the election I think the result will depend on how much traction Charest gains in the fall when the students return, and how many votes the CAQ can steal from the PQ and the Liberals. My guess is not too many, and one way or the other we’ll end up with a minority government, and there will be no referendum. But hey it’s Quebec, and these days anything could happen… :)
