Under the guise of ‘belt tightening’, Canada has turned down an invitation to attend Expo 2012 in South Korea. Or, is it a case we simply can’t we afford it as the Globe intimates in its headline? You know, our fabulous economy under the Conservatives and all. (Emphasis mine.)

Threats of protest shut down Iranian doc at Archives Canada. Wingnuts go wild. Or, ‘Bomb Iran Now!’

Archives Canada really wimped out when it shut down the screening of the documentary ‘Iranium’ critical of Iran’s nuclear program. The reason? Two letters threatening protest. After inspection, the letters were deemed “not suspicious at all”. The Iranian embassy also complained; that in itself is not enough to warrant the non-screening of the film.
