Iggy! What Are You Thinking? National Unity? Such Heresy!
Reckless! Simply Reckless, I tell you! Iggy! How could even suggest such foolish ideas as to attempt to bring Canadians together! Yes, to the Harpercons, concepts like National Unity are “disturbing trends”.
“Michael Ignatieff and his team recklessly throw around the term ‘national unity,’ ” the Tories charge. “If Ignatieff hadn’t spent 34 years away from Canada he might understand that elevating policy differences into ‘national unity’ issues is playing with fire.”
Yes Iggy, that is indeed disturbing. Why, before you know it, such radical things might happen like promotion of federalism in Quebec and gawd only knows what other such blasphemy might come from the Iggy camp.
Most of all, that crazy idea of attempting to contrast Master Steve’s game of divide and conquer which has worked so well for him, that is, until now; the census fiasco:
“[Stephen Harper] doesn’t want to know what the real country looks like (census), he doesn’t want the civil service to be representative of the real country (affirmative action), he doesn’t care about the urban-rural divide, and so forth and so on,” a senior Ignatieff official told The Globe.
“Only the Conservatives, with their twisted priorities, would think that wanting to have a strong and united Canada is a problem.”
Poor Stevie. He does appear to have to come up with a plan B, now. I wonder how insidious it will be?
Criticizing the National Unity talking point; is that the best the Harpercons can come up with these days to compensate for their latest failings and the increasingly good reviews of Iggy’s bus tour? Wow! Give that new communications director a raise! What a find!
Speaking of which: Some of us have one question these days: Where is Stevie? Wait! Tony, you better go save him!
