You all remember Constable Adam Josephs AKA Officer “I collect human Garbage” Bubbles? The one who was clearly shown to abuse his power over a young girl, volunteer street medic, Courtney Winkels who was simply blowing bubbles during one of many G20 stand-offs in Toronto on YouTube that spawned many cartoons as well as some video games? Well, he mad now. He’s suing YouTube. Yes, it seems that he can’t handle his new found fame.
In his statement of claim, Constable Josephs alleges the cartoons have subjected him to ridicule, and have resulted in threats against himself and his family.
Perhaps Officer Bubbles shoulda thought about all that before going steroid crazed power hungry cop on Ms Winkels who was only trying to lighten the mood. I mean, if anyone remembers the video (can’t put up anymore videos; youtube has scrubbed them apparently), there was a female cop who basically shrugged, even laughed it off. She was smart enough to know that bubble blowing was no security threat. No, he shoulda known better.
And kids, it gets better, he is demanding names, I tell ya!
He also seeks to compel YouTube to reveal the identities of the person who created and posted the cartoon – identified by the moniker “ThePMOCanada” – and the identities of several people who posted comments in response.
Really now? For what? So he can perhaps go and arrest them too? Make sure that they get extra traffic tickets and shit like that? So you can sue them too?
“This level of ridicule goes beyond what is reasonable,” James Zibarras said. “The reason we brought the lawsuit is that people have the right to protect themselves against this kind of harassment.”
What? Didn’t they teach you in police academy that cops aren’t always popular to begin with? Name calling is a regular happening as well as daily disrespect? Why should that fateful day have been any different? More to the point, with the whole world watching and odds were good someone with a video camera would catch you, did you honestly think you could behave like a steroid crazed guard and not be noticed?
Well, Ezzy? Well, other Free speech warriors? Anybody gonna come out in defense of the creaters of the cartoons or of YouTube?
I thought so!
I wonder if he plans to sue Facebook now for actually having the cache of his job description of “collecting human garbage”? I remember when I first posted about that awhile ago and how the post went viral for awhile. I wonder if he’ll sue me? Wouldn’t put it past him. Like a good Harpercon servant, lets make folks afraid to dissent!
Yes, he would go oh so well with Master Steve, not being able to take responsibility for his own mess.
He’s bitching about harrassment and ridicule??
I wonder about poor Mr. John Pruyn, that amputee who had his prosthetic leg savagely ripped from his body; an incident that surely traumatized he and his daughter who witnessed the whole thing? Will they get restitution for what happened to him? Does he get to sue the Toronto cops for not only endangering his health, but also stripping him of his dignity while they dragged him simply because he couldn’t hop on demand??
What about the other detainees who were arrested simply for protesting or worse, being at the wrong place at the wrong time? What about the indignation, the potential health hazards they endured and the abuse at the hands of the Toronto police? Do they get their day in court?
No officer Bubbles, you had and still do have it good! I bet the boys at the station were all buying you drinks and steaks for over a month for being a good puppet for the Harpercon elite. And the cartoons? You should wear those like a badge of honour! After all, isn’t that exactly how you want to be known as? The cop who “collects human garbage”? And yes, I still believe he would shoot a small animal out of a tree!
Thumbs down to Officer Tiny Bubbles.
That’s the thing about bullies. They’re cowards. Whining, bitchy little cowards.
His is a frivolous lawsuit. But I hope that if these class-action lawsuits for the G20 abuses succeed, that the police agencies have to pay for their shares themselves, … and if the good cops find that they’re suffering, maybe that will inspire them to stand up to the dim-witted idiots like officer bubbles here.
He’s just looking to make a buck.
The trouble with your comment, Thwap, is that when compensation is paid(and there are a couple of lawsuits I think asking for damages in the tens of millions, it won’t be the police service paying, or the federal or provincial governments who instigated the whole thing, it’s going to be the City of Toronto paying damages, which means ordinary ratepayers are going to have to pay in lost services or increased property taxes. I guarantee no politician be personally financially harmed, nor for that matter and errant police constable.
Nice, eh?
“And yes, I still believe he would shoot a kitten out of a tree!”
Bubbles is suing the video creators for the following statement made in their video: “Next week…Officer Bubbles shoots kitten in a tree”
Anything is actionable under our libel laws. Best be careful.

I was, I wrote “I still believe…” believe being the key word here… I was careful with choice of words
I believe-although I have not received official word- I will be one of the people he is trying to sue.
I mocked him in every single one of the cartoons that ThePMOCanada made with many funny comments-none of which were threatening or criminal.
All of them rightly making fun of AJ for being an utter douchebag.
Anyone know any good lawyers for counter-suits? I feel he is infringing on my right to free speech and he is causing me emotional damage from worry.
[...] Another blog has published what purports to be a screenshot of Officer Bubbles’ facebook page that shows an employment description consistent with his behaviour as seen on video: it would be interesting to have this screenshot confirmed or denied. [...]
