Hmmm! Cave into NATO (Americans, in reality) after making an ass out of yourself on the world stage in some pathetic attempt to redeem yourself, and let’s face it, being at war is a helluvalot more fun (not to mention, easier, and goes more along my lack of principles) than pesky talks of climate change and other environmental issues and going ahead and extending Canadian troop involvement way past 2011. Try to convince everyone that it will be strictly a training mission, and not a combat one while he bursts at the seams trying to keep a straight face after announcing a deployment of about 1000 more troops. Now, to add insult to injury, he is refusing to put it to a vote in parliament, citing he is not required to.
“My position is if you’re going to put troops into combat, into a war situation, I do think for the sake of legitimacy, I do think the government does require the support of Parliament,” he said. “But when we’re talking simply about technical or training missions, I think that is something the executive can do on its own.”
Yep, A-ok for NATO–Americans to help Stevie decide fate of Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan, but not fellow Canadians…makes a helluvalotta sense of you’re Stevie Spiteful.
So, to be crystal clear, Stevie Spiteful, in cahoots with Americans to risk other Canadian lives to keep a corrupt government in power, who would go to bed with the Taliban in a nano second just to remain in power and to train supposed Afghan security or should I say, insecurity forces–a motley group who is alleged to be molesting children?? Yep, this will move us right up into the cafe society of the UN.
If they were truly serious about training, here’s a novel, cheap, risk free idea just crazy enough to work; print up a few manuals and fed-ex them.
This won’t be a combat mission? I got swamp land in Florida to sell.
This is nothing new, corporate media.
Also ck, even if the mission miraculously changed into a training and support mission, it would take an idiot (or a psychopath) to believe that the insurgent forces would suddenly stop targeting our uniformed troops.
Would the troops still be in danger? Definately. Will they still receive the benefits and services (flawed as they are) of war veterans? The answer to that question is a resounding NO!
These questions must be answered in Parliament. Unfortunately, the liberals are in a coalition with the cons.
