Except that quote comes from Charles Dickens’ ‘A Tale of Two Cities’. You can’t invent these modern conservatives, whether it be Palin, O’Donnell or Steele. Ignorance is indeed bliss and anti-intellectuals faking their level of knowledge of the world has never been so funny.
The above quote was uttered by Michael Steele at an RNC debate. Steele’s gaffe was not the highlight, however. That belongs to gun-meister Ann Wagner, who answered the same question inquiring about the identity of her favourite book with:
“Probably my kitchen table.” What was she referring to exactly? Her favorite bar, apparently, which she thought she was being asked. Her favorite though, is George W. Bush’s new memoir, Decision Points.
Good luck, RNC. Here’s a quote for you: “you get what you deserve”.

The Conservatives had a howing error in their
campaign literature in 2006.
The platform had a quotation in Latin and
it was properly translated. Sadly, they said
that it was the motto of the coat of arms.
It wasn’t; it was the motto for the Order
of Canada.
Imagine how many people read that and
recoiled after realising the Cons got it
wrong again.

Sadly Torontonian, not as many people know the motto of the coat of arms. So I’m sure, again unfortunatly, that many read it and thought it was correct. The IQ of our country is quickly backsliding.
