“You’re dead”, were the words shouted at a town hall meeting by Eric Fuller, a victim of the Arizona shooting rampage last week. Fuller had been quietly sitting at the back of the hall when he erupted with the words, directed towards Tea Party spokesman Trent Humphries and Arizona Rep. Terri Proud.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Office said it arrested Eric Fuller, 63, who was wounded in the knee a week ago in the shooting rampage that killed six and wounded 13. He was being held Saturday for alleged threats of intimidation and disorderly conduct and will undergo a mental-health evaluation. [...]Toward the end of the taping, Amanpour brought up the issues of gun safety and mental health. As one member of the audience stood up and expressed his support for gun ownership, Fuller, seated near the front in an area reserved for victims and special guests, appeared increasingly frustrated and agitated.Fuller then swiveled in his chair, raised his camera and took a photo of the pro-gun speaker, muttering, “You’re dead,” according to Joel Tranter, who was sitting behind him.
I can understand Mr. Fuller’s rage at these two individuals but threatening another – especially those who advocate for violence and guns – is counterproductive in the extreme. In the right’s arsenal of false equivalences, this incident will now be proforred to counter any of he myriad examples of right wing extremism. It won’t matter to wingnuts and much of the media that Fuller could be suffering from PTSD from being shot in the leg only a week before. Hopefully, Eric Fuller will be treated for the after effects of the tragedy and wingnuts will not capitalize on the trauma inflicted on him. Just don’t count on the latter.
Erick Fuller is a long-time nut job. He can’t excuse himself by claiming PTSD unless he’s had it for years. He is the type who would do just what we saw last week only he would be doing it for political reasons.
I didn’t hear Trent Humphries say anything pro-gun in his statements. He merely said that the gun issue is not a tea party issue and that now is the time for healing, not more arguing over political issues.

gun issue isn’t a tea-party issue.
Bull shit! It’s just one of their issues. I bet they’re afraid some new, much needed law could come up in Arizona, disallowing folks from walking the streets with a loaded gun. By the by, why the obsessive need to be able to pack a gun just to go from point A to point B, anyway? Your obsessive gun culture does cause alarm. And yet, Eric Fuller is the nutjob; nice.
Before calling Eric Fuller a nutjob, sweetie, I’d look to your side first; frankly, Glenn Beck just isn’t the poster boy for mental health, neither are the rest of ‘em. And the rhetoric of Sarah Palin certainly is far from that of sane rational people.

Deborah, can you provide examples of Fuller being a ‘nutjob’? Thank you.

Who in the Hell is Deborah Read, does she personally know Mr. Fuller. And to even suggest that the Tea Party isn’t about guns is absurd in the extreme. Hasn’t Ms. Read (can she read BTW?) either been to a Tea Party gathering or seen pictures of the rifle and six gun toting protesting TeaHadists?
BTW if I had been shot thanks to the rhetoric of Beck, Palin, Angle et. al. and had to listen to a Tea Bagger tell lies in public, I would be upset too. BTW, when he said you’re dead, maybe he meant the Tea Bagger’s political movement – it makes as much sense as Palin or Angle saying cross-hairs and threats to “resort to second amendment solutions” are merely metaphors. I can’t believe what passes for adult conversation in North America these days!
By the way, we all know (or should know) that during this time for “healing” Glocks and outrageous mega-clips are flying off the shelves in Arid Zoner. I guess people are preparing to do some “healing.”
