It really appears to be a preoccupation with Sun Media’s editors today.
If the Globe and Mail were a mere child, rather than just old, venerable and haughty, we’d be tempted to issue an Amber Alert.
The poor soul has gone missing.
It has either lost its way or gone dotty.
Instead of maintaining a true conservative course that has long served the Bay Street elite and the higher-ups so closely associated with the ruling Thomson clan, Canada’s national newspaper has moved shockingly to the left.
This concerns us.
In fact, it has us fretting if the good, grey Globe, despite having tarted itself up with lipstick and colourful frocks, can actually be saved and returned to the conservative high road.
Perhaps The Grope & Fail have realized the competition was too stiff, being lost in a sea of all the right slanted media out there?
I’m sure the likes of Peggy Wente, Norman Spector, Jane Taber and John Ibbitson would love to know they’re now “lost lefties”.
Also love how we’re in the middle of an election and a few wars, yet all they can fret about is the direction of a competing newspaper.
Any luck finding cable and satellite providers to carry your Fox News North as of late?
Interestingly, today’s G&M op-ed is by Derek Burney, and the paper’s editorial denounced them of being guilty of “economic nationalism” (which according to them is a bad thing).
That hardly sounds like neo-lefties to me, but maybe from the Sun’s perspective just allowing the occasional critic of the paltriness of our foreign aid policy into the opinion pages is heresy.
Sun Media should worry. They’ve been losing business
and closing newspapers right and left. Moreover,
the Toronto Sun is no longer advertised as, “The
Little Paper That Grew”, because it’s actually
shrinking!
If I understand correctly, Toronto Sun and QMI will
become tenants of their building that they’ve
occupied for many years. Becoming tenants in
property you once owned! What does that say?
It’s almost as worse as Trump bankrupting his
casino in Atlantic City.
There is a blog about the Sun by its former
employees–more or less. Here’s the link:

The whole Peladeau, QMI, Sun business reside
in the Canadian Business Hall of Shame.
Pity.
From what I’ve read in the G&M the past few weeks it’s still a very conservative paper (note the use of the lowercase). The problem for the Sun editors (and other Harper supporters and Harper himself) is that since they’re not a cheering squad for the Harper Conservatives, they obviously must be Liberals. Harper and his supporters have a “if you aren’t parroting what we say, you are against us” attitude that is dangerous in a democracy. Then again, the Harper Conservatives hate democracy and dissent.
[...] Toronto Sun has accused the Globe & Mail of swinging to the left this year (h/t Sister Sage). Nope, not buying it. Ironically, today, the G&M ran an op-ed by anti-Canadian deep [...]
