First, Remember this?
If you don’t care to view all of it, it was basically Krista Erikson in her best Harper blue dress berating Montreal dancer and long time cultural icon, Margie Gillis on her Fox News North show. How she would flail her arms, basically mocking dancers, twist Ms. Gillis’ words around, and yes, yell over Ms. Gillis’, whose voice is very soft to begin with, and thus, no competition for the obnoxious ‘Sunshine’ girl. Krista, in typical Harpercon host fashion, would ask Ms. Gillis a question, and then not even allow her to answer the question as she would go on yelling on top of her voice. Yes, disingenuous would indeed be putting it mildly.
Well, I just learned that the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council, an independent watchdog organization, that handles complaints from member tv and radio stations, among other things, to the CRTC, has received a record number of complaints about that interview.
Canadian Broadcast Standards Council national chairman Ron Cohen says his organization has received more than 4,100 complaints about a June 1 interview between host Krista Erickson and Quebec-born dancer Margie Gillis.
The council typically receives about 2,000 complaints in an entire year.
“It’s the most individual complaints we’ve received about a single incident,” said Cohen in a telephone interview from Ottawa on Tuesday, noting that the number is only surpassed if petitions are included.
Uh, gee, ya think? Imagine, they receive, on average, 2000 complaints per year, from every member radio and tv station. Imagine, they more than doubled that from just Krita Erikson’s interview. Oh boy! I guess it ain’t so sunny in the world of Krista and Fox News North these days, is it?
As for the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council, they’re apparently so inundated with complaints from that one interview, that they’re begging the public to stop sending ‘em? Aww! What a pity? What say you, dear readers? Should we listen to their pleas? I say not! Carry on folks!
Great news!
Isn’t the number of complaints almost equal to Sun’s viewing audience?
I missed that interview because I never watch the station. I have flipped past on occasion and reenforce my reasons for never watching Sun TV. The neocon hacks that have written for the Sun don’t work well on TV and I think their amateurism shows through. I can tell you that having viewed the entire interview I can honestly say I will continue to give Sun tv a wide berth.
