Another casualty of the Sun News family has been taken out of the line-up. Akin-fans can at least take some solace in that the former host of ‘Daily Brief’ will continue on the network as occasional guest.
Akin can also console himself in the fact that his reputation will be less sullied now that he has been delegated to covering Stephen Harper’s trips and appearing on guest spots, out of the humiliating spotlight of hosting a daily show on the amateur network. David, think of it as a promotion.
At least this “amateur network” doesn’t cost taxpayers $1.1 billion per year!
Thank you for your totally irrelevant comment regarding David Akin’s ‘demotion’. I guess a Conservative has to stay on point.
Hi Jymn,
Where did you here (or how do you know) that Akin’s been sacked, at least from his 6:00 pm slot? SNN has been quietly “disappearing” on-air people since last June: first Theo Caldwell (no explanation) to make room for pulpit-pounder Coren (what!?!), then Jacqui Delaney (no explanation at all), then Neelam Verma was sent packing to make way for David Menzies (now there’s a ratings builder).
Akin’s photo still appears on the SNN website but he’s not doing his show today, hmm…. In the past, when the photo goes, so does the person.
Cheers

Alexandra – National Newswatch first reported that a Sun News insider had provided the news. While NN is a decent news aggregator, sometimes their original news items are a little suspect. I haven’t read anything more about Akin. Supposedly, Akin went on vacation around the time of the news. I’ve been waiting for confirmation from a news source but nothing has been forthcoming.
BTW, love your site.

National Newswatch, I’ve not heard of them (my bad); I’ll have to check them out. I’ll also be watching what happens to Akin; I’m fascinated by watching SNN shed people, tis like watching the Titanic shed parts after she broke in two, only slower.
Thank you for the quick reply and for loving my site.
