Oh yes! As we all heard, Kory Teneycke ended his rather short tenure at the CBC in favour of taking over as Vice-President of Development at Quebecor. And already, he seems to be working fairly quickly.
The former chief spokesman for Prime Minister Stephen Harper is spearheading a bid by Quebecor Inc. to set up a Fox News-style TV station in Canada with an unabashedly right-of-centre perspective.
Quebecor has filed an application with the CRTC, Canada’s broadcast regulator, to operate an English-language news channel. The application has not yet been made public but a source says an announcement on the venture is “imminent.”
Yes, this is wonderful news to many of the Blogging SupposiTories, indeed! I bet the likes of Dodo, Hunter and Frmgrl are all no doubt having a collective orgasm at the very idea of Canada’s very own Faux news network.
Yes I bet Canadian Sense got sooo excited about having their very own tabloid news channel, he probably never made it to the washroom.
Hold on, sports fans, it gets worse! Rumour only, you understand.
Ezra Levant, a conservative author and activist, is being seriously considered as a host for one of the new station’s anchor opinion shows, sources say. Mr. Levant and Mr. Tenecyke have worked together as far back as the 1996 Winds of Change conference, a precursor to the unite-the-right movement that merged the Canadian Alliance and Progressive Conservative parties.
Ol’ Ezzy is denying any kind of offer with any network but does hint at keeping those doors open. Just what Canada needs! Canada’s very own Glenn Beck!
Given that the CRTC ‘s boss is basically Master Steve, who seems to just love Fox News (more than likely) & refuses to watch anything Canadian except for perhaps Hockey and “Corner Gas”, but only the episode he appeared in, no doubt, the CRTC will grant Quebecor its’ much coveted license.
Great! So Canada’s Tea-bagger hit parade can continue to grow while they get to watch Ezzy turn purple and go weepy over the persecution of white supremacists by Human Rights Commissions and of Jews who actually engage in conversation with Muslims, are traitors. Watch for an Ezzy IrreLevant episode of “Down With ‘Official Jews’ and HRCs” and “I’m Saving My Virginity for Ann Coulter”. In addition, how to shows on tea-bagging and wingnuttery. Watch for Redneck Ryan and Chuckles Adler to get their own shows as well, no doubt. Oh did I just say that? Oops! Now Ryan’s head will explode with his ego.
On a serious note though, most of our mainstream media is already in lockstep with Master Steve. Why do we need another one?

Update: Fox News North has scored its’ first host. No, it ain’t Ezzy. David Akin has resigned from CanWest to jump into this venture. I wonder what Kory offered him to leave his job to join something that is not all that certain to work?
UPDATER: It seems that Brian Lilley may also be headed to Fox News North. I’m sure a great fit as he can’t even deliver the news without it being slanted to the right.
If it’s a good idea and people want it, it will thrive. If it’s not, it won’t. If people want it, why shouldn’t they have it, especially if it’s a private enterprise? The market will decide if it’s a viable idea or not.
Besides, imagine all the material it would provide… hahahahaa!

Except isn’t it time for something more balanced? Natty PO, more than half the writers at Grope & Fail, Canwest papers, Talk Radio (98%). CTV.
In all fairness, responsible media shouldn’t even be right or left.
These days, listen to some newscasters like Brian Lilley or Trude the Prude Mason in Montreal who can’t even report the news without it being slanted to the right. Isn’t news reporting supposed to be done without any bias in order for it to be credible?
This isn’t about entertainment or markets; it’s about executives furthering that hard right agenda.

Because they have to control everything and everything is not enough. There’s a megalomania to everything these people do. They feel that because the best they can do is a minority government, that insult is the result of a secret libtard plot. Haven’t the blogging tories been arguing since who can remember that Quebec is a socialist cancer Canada best be rid of, that Quebec and business are mutually exclusive realities, that french is irrelevant to Canada and certainly to the conduct of business, that Quebecers are no better than welfare mooches constantly looking for a handout.
It’s a common refrain on the blogging tory blogs, Hunter’s, Ardvark’s, BC Blue, Celestial Junk and so on ad nauseam.
Didn’t Hugh Macintyre argue in the National Post yesterday that ignatieff is irrelevant because the language policies he defends for Canada are irrelevant.
And now these same blogging tories advise us that the savior of “conservative culture is english Canada is none other than Montreal based Quebecor, that welfare mooching Quebec has not only a business class, but billionaire media moguls, that the French language may be irrelevant to business ansd pretty much anything else in Canada, but curiously it is the language in which Quebecor board meetings are held in Montreal.
Talk about turning your worldview upside down. You would have expected their savior to be some Alberta based communications giant, except such an animal does not exist.
What will they do next, send Mary T and Ardvark to Montreal to show Peladeau how a business is properly run, the blogging tory way, the Arizona/ Alberta way, starting with conducting all board and management business in the only language known to blogging tories.

Hi Dupmar, Thanks for your input. You’re exactly right about those Quebec bashing, Alberta worshipping Blogging SupposiTories. You brought up points I don’t think anyone else has brought up. I wonder if anyone even thought of it?
