Yessirree! He did. He hired Bay Street lawyer, Nigel Wright, managing director of Onex Corp to replace the departing Guy Giorno. And kids, it gets even better!
Wright, a Harvard University-trained lawyer, has been with Onex Corp., a capital investment firm, since 1997 and assumed his current position of managing director five years ago.
A Harvard grad? Why, he won’t be able to connect to ordinaryCanadians! An arrogant Harvard educated man going to be Stevie’s new “yes” man? Why, and Bay Street to boot! He’ll never connect to Main Street. In fact, I don’t think he’ll even understand the economics of Main Street or the working class.
Wright, a life-long Conservative, first met Harper in his first leadership run 10 years ago; he was recruited based on his history restructuring companies for growth. He is credited with the acquisitions of Spirit AeroSystems and Hawker Beechcraft, Inc
Hmm, I wonder what he’ll say about the sole sourcing of those F35s?
A senior government official told CBC News national affairs editor Chris Hall that the prime minister recruited Wright for the position because the economy is the government’s top priority.
Does that mean he sends Deficit Jim on a much needed sick leave?
Yes, the media is showering nothing but praise for this Toronto Harvard educated Elite; strong work ethic, gets up early in the morning, very ethical, yadda, yadda, yadda…
And don’t count him talking to the media much–Mr. Wright also declined to speak, saying it’s “not part of the job description.” Perhaps he won’t want to say much, neither.
One potential stumbling block, however, was Mr. Wright’s stakes in so many companies through Onex and its funds.
According to sources, Mr. Wright has already met with the ethics commissioner, who has gone through his holdings with a “fine-toothed comb.”
Oh, did I mention, ethical? As they say, seek and you shall find.
Apparently, he worked as Lyin’ Brian Mulroney’s speech writer and policy advisor. I think we all know what happened to ol’ Lyin’ Brian, don’t we, now?
Mr. Wright may well be a success on Bay Street, but how successful will he be again in parliament with the Harpercons? Especially with a PM who will do his own theocratic, megalomaniac stuff, anyway? Wright will just be another potted plant.
“Wright, a life-long Conservative, first met Harper in his first leadership run 10 years ago; he was recruited based on his history restructuring companies for growth. He is credited with the acquisitions of Spirit AeroSystems and Hawker Beechcraft, Inc”
This is code for He destroyed the lives of thousands of working people and now in his new job he can assist the Harper government in destroying the lives of millions of working people. Thats quite a promotion.

Thanks Kev, I missed that angle. Either way, whomever ol’ Steve hired was not going to be good news. When they announced Giorno was leaving, I was like, So? They’re just going to put another equally, if not, more contentious person in his place.
Good catch, CK!
