Dear Sheila Fynes
Soldier’s mother wants DND apology
‘They knew he was sick, and now he’s dead’: Sheila Fynes on Stuart Langridge
Dear Ms. Fynes;
I want to express my deepest condolences for the death of your son, Cpl. Stuart Langridge. He was a Canadian Hero, and I just know that you are deeply proud of him. I cannot even express my disgust for the treatment of your boy by the Government of Canada, through the Canadian Forces. According to the CBC article, you will soon be subject to all kinds of apologies and “restitution” by the government through the Minister of Defense. How pathetic. These are not the people equipped to make responsible executive decisions about Canadian foreign policy.
We cannot know the darkness of the soul that war inevitabley scars onto the psyche of the victims, but there are those in the world that do. Romeo D’Allaird is one. Malalai Joya has been trying to tell us for years. We could ask the people of Palestine, but we are very careful not to ask those questions. The fact that your son went untreated for PTSD is not excusable. If this government is intent on war and our people are unwilling to vote against it, well then, they’d best aquaint themselves with the kinds of illnesses and disabilities that result from sending our children off to wage war.
It must be so painful to know that your son physically survived the war, only to fall victim to the psychological fallout. As parents, we must advocate for our children, military or civilian. We must also, apparently, act as the collective “conscience”, in condemning acts of war, for ultimately, they are regressive acts of terror upon other people, committed, ultimately, for the benefit of corporations…
In deepest sympathy,
Kim
I have sent the following message to recruitment at [email protected]
I am sickened by how your case was handled from what you have presented to the media the military seems like another corporate entity. My quote:
“I am upset by the way the case of Crpl. Langridge and the way his family was disregarded in a time when the military should support this family. What is being hidden here is the only question I have, obviously something since the suicide note was received by his mother Sheila Fynes and family, I should say until much afterwords and the paperwork and case grossly mishandled.
The military seems more and more like any other corporate entity. A corporation once made human becomes the sociopath that uses people only for their own personal benefit.
I will not therefore encourage anyone or members of my future family to be involved unless I am sure that they will be treated with the highest respect and that their missions are not for economic reasons. PROVE THIS!!!!”
Dear Sheila,
I as well am sickened by your story. I am very dissapointed with our DND(Army). I my self have been in a situation some what like yours and found there is little help for our PTSD sufferers, and as well have tried contacting the goverment on many occasions and have gotten no where except a letter, stating it was my sig. others prolems not mine and he should deal with it. They dont do enough for the suufferers and there family and wishing they could one day see what you and I and other go through daily. But on another note I am very happy that you have brought this to the countries attention, I dont think many realize what it is like in Afaganistan or other places our troops are sent, in other words I wish people would care more. They claim they care so much but really I find they dont. Shiela is you get this plz email me.([email protected])… It would be great… keep safe and god bless you and your son and thank you for doing what you have done your a brave woman.-Rene
