Some Progressive Dems Challenge Anti-Health Care GOPers To Put Their Money Where Their Mouth Is

Yesterday, Jymn posted about new Rethuglican congressman, Andy Harris, who is typically against the Obama health care reform, bitching about how he would have to wait thirty days after being sworn in in January  for his tax-payer funded congressman health coverage.  Today, it seems that some progressive Dems have  launched a challenge to anti-health care Rethuglicans; to basically put their money where their mouth is and renounce their government health coverage.

“You cannot enroll in the very kind of coverage that you want for yourselves, and then turn around and deny it to Americans who don’t happen to be Members of Congress. We also want to note that in 2011, the Federal government will pay $10,503.48 of the premiums for each member of Congress with a family policy under the commonly selected Blue Cross standard plan,” a letter to GOP leaders signed by Reps. Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.), Donna Edwards (D-Md.), Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) and Linda Sanchez (D-Calif.)

I’m glad someone has come out with the idea.  It’s about time these anti-healthcare buffoons were called out for their hypocrisy.

“If your conference wants to deny millions of Americans affordable health care, your members should walk that walk.”

They go on:

“It is important for the American people to know whether the members of Congress and members-elect who have called for the repeal of health insurance reform are going to stand by their opposition by opting out of the care available to them at the expense of hard-working taxpayers,” the Democrats wrote in their letter. “We look forward to your response in the coming days about exactly how many of the members in the Republican conference will be declining their taxpayer-supported health benefits.”

They, of course, have yet to receive an answer from Rep John Boehner or Sen Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky). Unfortunately, they will wait forever and of course, all those anti-health care GOPers like Harris will keep their federal health plans.  What was that the right always loved to hammer the left over the head with regarding entitlements, again?

I, of course, have always gone to battle with the anti-universal pro-Americanized health care Canadians and I still do…even tell them where the nearest private for profit facilities are to their home towns; ask them why they still use medicare. Thus far, they either run far, far away from me or I get feeble excuses. Again, I put the question to these righties, what is it they whine about liberal lefty progressives and their entitlements?

Good on those Democrats. I can only hope that when Stevie Spiteful gets his majority, and Americanizes health care here,  most of us can bombard him with emails, letters and such, demanding he pay for his own health care.
