De Beaux Os left a comment to an earlier post I wrote on Mme Paille and she brought up a point I didn’t think of. When I first saw Mme Paille’s facebook fan page last night, I saw a few compare her to “Joe the Plumber”. Sure enough, many in the media compared her to “Joe the Plumber” as well. Hence, I took the comparison.
De Beaux Os, however, took issue with the fact that Mme Paille has been compared to “Joe the Plumber” as he not only fake, but he was more of tea-party character in the US. True he became Sarah Palin’s favourite imaginary friend and that is, well, unfortunate. Unfortunate that a working class individual (fictitious or not) struggling to get by is the representative of the right winged party and front for corporate America who do nothing but ensure that their fat cat friends simply get richer.
Still, since “Joe the Plumber” is associated with Tea-party America, as DBO pointed out, I probably did insult Mme Paille and for that I apologize.
It’s the downside of blogging, tweeting and FB’ing; we all reach for familiar tropes and facile memes.
I’ve done it too, especially when fighting the evul ideology & actions promoted by The Vatican Taliban.

Here it would seem we have a classic example of projection.
