Oh Laur-rie Hawwnn! Me Thinks You Got Some ‘Splainin’ To Do!!

Yes, nice to know that the military industrial complex is still very much a concern on the feeble minds of certain yahoo Harpercons.  According to a cable released by Wikileaks to APTN, it would appear that the now demoted esteemed redneck of Edmonton-Center, Laurie Hawn is a tad disappointed these days. He was sooo hoping that the economic downturn and high employment would’ve led to higher recruitment in our armed forces.   Naturally,  ol’ Laurie can’t be reached for comment.

The cable, titled Challenges to the Transformation of the Canadian Army, noted some of the difficulties the Canadian Army faced in the recruitment and retention and its troubles with procurement.

Did they just say “procurement”? Paging Robocop Fantino! About recruitment? Well, here are more highlights from the cable:

Hawn told U.S. officials that the army was also having trouble processing new recruits, because the “Canadian Forces’ best trainers were often on deployment in Afghanistan,” according to the cable.

Hawn noted, however, that the more pressing problem was the early retirement of “NCOs and officers” as a result of the “prospect of serving multiple tours in Kandahar.”

The cable notes that “despite recurrent pledges” by Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s “government to re-build the capabilities of the Canadian Forces,” the army faced a series of challenges including procurement and recruitment.

“The Canadian Army still faces serious funding, recruitment and procurement challenges as it seeks to meet pressing requirements in Afghanistan while also transforming itself into a medium-weight service capable of conducting both major combat and counterinsurgency operations,” said the cable.

Ok, stop right there! If the Canadian army has a funding issues, how can it afford to pay new soldiers? Does it expect the soldiers to work for free?

Oh, Stevie does really want us to be more like the most tea-baggiest worst of the redneck of the US, doesn’t he, including that military industrial complex. Here’s a scary thought. What if  Stevie Spiteful and the Harpercons were to deliberately keep unemployment high in the hopes the unemployed would enlist?

Let’s also remember that in the US, the military is also the biggest employment program it has to offer. Scary, innit?

It seems that NDP MP  for St-John’s East, Jack Harris,  has asked that shrew, Diane Finley, about this in Question Period today, to which, she gave a short and typically feeble one size fits all standard Harpercon answer “We support workers”, whatever the hell that’s supposed to mean.  NEPers, I really hope you keep at ‘em with this, as that kind of thinking could lead back to conscription! Say, perhaps, making the unemployed enlist? Let’s remember what Stevie Spiteful thought of the unemployed:

“In terms of the unemployed, of which we have over a million-and-a-half, don’t feel particularly bad for many of these people. They don’t feel bad about it themselves, as long as they’re receiving generous social assistance and unemployment insurance.”

Given what was revealed in that Wikileaks cable about what that yahoo, reportedly revealed and what Stevie Spiteful really thinks of the unemployed, plus, Stevie’s obvious love for going to war,  is conscription really that far fetched an idea in Stevie’s mind?

Conscription is something, Quebecers have historically rejected, I might add. Something the NDP should think about when questioning Harpercons in Question Period.

Funny, my brother is a Warrant Officer in the CF. He used to be a trainer but he was laid off last April when the Conservatives slashed the budget and nearly shut down his reserve unit. He was unemployed for 8 months.

    Today he’s in Kandahar.

Hawn is full of shit. They had trainers if they wanted them. They just wanted mote cannon fodder for Afghanistan.

Fuck him and every other conservative arm chair warrior who are happy to let other people die so they can be tough

Very revealing, Mike. Thanks for that. You just illustrated how much more of a yahoo Hawn and the Harpercons really are. Cannon fodder. How sick can they be? Don’t answer that. I think I already know.

Wikileaks has said, the N.A.U. is on the way. With no borders between, Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. There could be a potential for a huge army. Did not the U.S. force military duty, whether students were going to college or university, that didn’t matter?

Conscription, no doubt will be enforced. The giant gas and oil company’s, thrive on wars. If there isn’t a war, the U.S. picks a fight. Such as, WMD in Iraq. I can see war with Iran, North Korea and Pakistan too, also WMD. Canada, the U.S. and Mexico, is also a vast area to protect. There will have to be a huge army. There are precious resources, that must be kept safe. There are other country’s, who would love to own Canada. Russia is one of those country’s. China another.

More and more farmland is being destroyed by greed. When the population, outgrows the food scources, a huge WW111, will be needed to thin down the population.

  • There is an opportunity to connect the dots. Now I would not dare to say that Mr Harper or Mr Pete will have any benefit from the F35 deal, or from our Libyan leadership. Similarly Mr Tony Blair should not be judged poorly for his ability to earn millions post Iraq and post retirement. Anyone who would suggest that the millions Tony has earned are ill gotten should look at GWB, there is no evidence he made a nickel. When Mr Harper moves on I expect that he will not serve on any boards or receive any compensation for the untendered contract for the F35. Hey he loves hockey and cats and sweaters so leave him alone.
