I will open with a Happy International Women’s Day to all my likeminded readers. However, I’m afraid this is not a pleasant post. I will be talking about many issues facing women today, mainly in Canada.
I found it hilarious that Tasha Kheiriddin, preaching human rights using typical right winged talking points when

Babs Kay And Robyn Urback, By Denying a Rape Culture Exists, You’re Actually Contributing to It

Boys n girls, Babs Kay has exposed her betrayal to the sisterhood yet again. This time she contends that the rape culture on university campuses virtually doesn’t exist, or at the very least, is grossly exaggerated. First off, she gives an extremely dumb analogy:
Health-conscious people do not smoke for fear of getting

Say What, Jason Kenney?

Well, boys n girls, Jason Kenney, still feverishly defending 2011 Harpercon election promise of income splitting for wealthier families, now says that it will help “stable” families.
“All of the social research indicates that folks who come from stable families tend to do better in terms of their economic prospects, and income-splitting supports

Wow. Canada, for all of Harper’s claims, is not getting any better. For women especially, the road is getting harder. It’s bad enough that anti-women-rights advocates like Woodward and Ambrose are putting up roadblocks to women working to gain equality, the government’s attitude towards women is becoming more and more dismissive.

It’s not so much the absolute underscored disregard for women or the blind adherence to scripture that makes Richard Mourdock’s statement so egregious; it’s the rush from the GOP in support of the Senate candidate that is so startling.

This, coming from a local president of the Tea Party is no surprise. Being that it comes from a woman, that makes it full-on Eww! She must be reading Barbara Kay.
Our country might have been better off if it was still just men voting. There is nothing worse than a bunch of mean, hateful

What an ugly country this is turning out to be. Our government is being assailed by other nations for its war on children. Women and their rights are now under attack. People of colour and alternative sexual orientation are openly demeaned by right-wing media. It’s no wonder people are losing their minds and no longer hiding that

What’s happening in France? Yes, racism has long been a problem for that country. But serial gang rapes? (Emphasis mine.)
Ten French men have been acquitted and four have received short sentences over the gang-rape of teenage girls in a trial described by one of the victims’ lawyers as a “judicial shipwreck”.

Nicely done. I especially love watching Abbott’s face as it slowly dissolves from smirk to anger to something akin to shame.
Something to think about when Canada votes in its next female PM, almost certainly to be a Dipper or Liberal.

Yep, here’s where Canada’s Conservative party could one day be headed. With the subtle but urgent march of the likes of Woodworth, Kenney, and the 91 MP’s who voted against women’s rights, how much longer before we are urged to debate the right of women to vote? Or, listen to a recommendation

Sarah Kendzior, in an article appearing in the Atlantic, points out the well-meaning but ultimately dismissive tone some western writers have adopted when writing about the women of Pussy Riot. The writer provides examples of this attitude, interesting enough from writers for the quasi-progressive blogs, Huffington Post and The New Republic.
