Oh My! Steve Now Alienates Businesses With His Decision To Cut the Census–Who Exactly Benefits From Steve’s Relentlessness?

Yes, the latest group to get pissed with ol’ sweater vest Steve is, apparently, the business community.  Businesses, too, rely on the data compiled by StatsCan from the Mandatory long census forms to effectively conduct business. And no, they say, a voluntary form just won’t cut it.

For Ms. Pickard’s clients, and for hundreds of thousands of entrepreneurs across Canada, the census is both a direct and indirect source of reliable information, and helps to form a road map for where they want to go. Now, the small and medium-sized businesses who lack the marketing muscle to conduct their own private surveys stand to be among those most affected by the plan to drop the mandatory long-form census.

Alternatives to the census are more costly, more time-consuming and will result in poorer information, says Ms. Pickard, whose firm, Pickard & Laws, is based in Mississauga, Ont. “The picture of life in Canada will be fragmented,” she said. With a voluntary survey, her company “won’t be able to provide the same level of service and quality of information as we’ve been able to do over many years.”

The list of those who want to keep the mandatory long form census is indeed a long one; far longer than those who don’t. Speaking of which, the latter is the usual suspects, you know, Fraser  Institute, Ezzy IrreLevant, Lorne Gunter.  Click the above link for the complete lists.  Of course, they’re not all “special interest” groups as Steve may like to put it.

Well, Steve, Tony…the evangelicals, Jewish groups,  seniors (who do show up to vote for you), economists, who are supposted to be your friends and now businesses want you to keep the census. What will it take for you to relent?

In the Globe & Mail article I linked to earlier, a commenter asks a very interesting question we should all be asking ourselves.  Here’s commenter Trillian Rand @11:52:31AM this morning:

This article would have more impact if our Conservative government was interested in gathering votes from businesspeople and business owners, but it should now be obvious that it is not. Its core lays elsewhere, certainly not in the boardrooms that vote to give funds to Conservative coffers.

Perhaps the single most important and unasked question in making the long form census voluntary is: why? It is obviously not popular and a government as strategically savvy as Mr Harper’s should have seen this before announcing the change. It bothers not only ‘leftie loons’, but many who undoubtedly contribute to the Conservative war chest.

So why? What group has such leverage that it can make Mr Harper do something so outrageous that it endangers a source of income? And, let us not forget, makes one of his ministers look the fool. Who benefits?

The very fact that many on the right, who normally vote and/or even contribute to the Harpercon war chest, are just as displeased with Steve’s decision and stubbornness to not change his mind regarding the banning of the mandatory long form census, is evident that this is about much more than Stephen Taylor’s prophecies of removing the social safety net, as for the most part, much of the right would like to see, at the very least, some of the welfare state trimmed, anyway.  Otherwise, why wouldn’t Steve simply relent and maintain the mandatory long census to appease his own base and attempt to find other hideous ways of stripping the welfare state? Being the master tactician that he is, I’m sure that is mere child’s play for the Master, hisself. And another good question that poster asks; why is it so worth it for Tony Clement to continue to look like an absolute buffoon drives his clown car backwards at every turn?

By the by, the long list of those who want to keep the mandatory long form census  includes Harpercon MP from the riding of Edmonton-Leduc, James Rajotte.  Oh dear, he may have hell to pay for not following Master Steve’s party lines, so anyone who dares to speak against master Steve gets  my attention and respect. I only hope he hasn’t wavered for having the wrath of “gawd” in his face as of late.  I haven’t found any recent news of him one way or the other.  Remember how Fern Hill and JJ were musing about whether or not it is possible for the left and the right  to find common ground and work together on certain issues?  Well, keeping the mandatory long form census issue would definitely qualify. In fact, I would say that it is more important than ever at this point to find a way to work with the right to make Steve relent.  We must also get to the bottom of the truth, because, one thing is certain,  Steve & Tony working this hard and sacrificing their constituents, basically just to scrap the mandatory long census; bet that there are definitely more sinister forces at work here.

When Anti-Feminists Invoke Double Standards–Featuring Starry-Eyed Rightchik Tammee,

What the hell is it about the women of the Blogging SupposiTories?  Is it just me, or are they even more sexist than their male counterparts?

I wonder if Ex-Lax Max likes girls who look like  Tammy-Faye Baker? Her crush on him is really shameless. I wonder what her hubby who is overseas thinks of this?  She pulls the double standard and hence, the target of some verbal bitch-slapping from your’s truly! She actually makes the anti-feminist slam against Guergis at the end of her miserable post.

Should be somewhat amusing to watch although really, go home Helena.  Resign your seat and take care of your baby.  Leave this stress behind, we all know it’s not good for the new one.

Nice.

Is Tammee suggesting that Helena Guergis stay home barefoot and pregnant? Or all women?

She is claiming to hear the rumours some of us have been hearing that perhaps the Liberals may be courting her, but Guergis is holding fast to her Con roots; either she runs as a Harpercon or an independent.  It seems, though, that Tammeee Rightchik and her commenters are just outraged; just outraged, I tell you, at the idea of her crossing over to the Liberals. What are you scared of? Why should you care? If Steve is running that star candidate, Dr Kellie Leitch (assuming the rumours are true, of course), why should you worry?

And that is the mystery. We know why Steve won’t take Guergis back, as that would mean Stevie Spiteful would actually have to humble himself and publicly eat crow. It may be possible that she may have cause for legal action, not that Steve would allow it to go anywhere. But, I want to know why anti-feminists like Rightchik Tammeee are so afraid of her? From what it looks like, they don’t even want her sitting as an independent or even a Liberal.  Although, the latter, I’m not inclined to believe will happen and I wouldn’t recommend that for the Liberals. Another post for another time, though. But why does she really want her gone?  We know it ain’t because she cares about the health of Ms Guergis or her baby. Caring isn’t in the repertoire of materialist ice-princesses like Rightchik Tammeee.

I also don’t hear a peep of outrage from Rightchik Tammee & the usual suspects regarding Jean-Pierre Blackburn’s little Tequila tantrum at an airport awhile back. In fact, I don’t think they even remember it.

As far as Rightchik Tammee’s faux concern for Guergis regarding her pregnancy,  it’s probably a helluva lot less stressful to work, many pregnant women have worked and will continue to do so, than the stress Stevie spiteful has caused her, not to mention that toad of a husband of her’s. Yes, he too may have been cleared of wrong doing by the RCMP, but he still strikes me as a toad.

To be perfectly clear,  I was highly critical of Helena Guergis’ behavior at the PEI airport, her use of sock puppetry (staffers writing to newspapers) and a few other transgressions.  Many of us were. But Steve never threw her out of cabinet, nor caucus for those sins.  Lord knows, we drew a lot of entertainment from the future revelations regarding her hubby when PI, Derrick Snowdy and all his sleaziness crawled out of the woodwork; remember #bustyhookers? I made a cartoon of  she and Jaffer in his and her straight jackets. I even had a visit from the PI Derrick Snowdy hisself at my comments section from a previous post, basically trying to put a muzzle on me.

We have heard that she was not a great minister of state for the status of women. Neither is farm girl Rona Ambrose. As a matter of fact, I don’t think Stevie spiteful would allow anybody to make any kind of effort with that portfolio.  Given his coveted majority, I daresay he would scrap the status of women portfolio altogether.  That outta to make our shoe princess happy.

Here’s more from earlier in her post:

Unlike Bernier, Guergis showed no remorse in the potential scandal, she proclaimed loudly her innocence and became quite – well – insistent that she did nothing wrong.  And while she may have done nothing wrong criminally by allowing her husband to use her office showed poor, very poor judgement.

No remorse, no repentance and without those she will find no redemption.

If Guergis had good grace (and good sense) she should have immediately resigned, apologized and moved into the background – quietly!  She didn’t and consequently is now out of caucus, out of the party and out of time.

She apologized for the airport incident. Whether or not she was sincere is another story, wouldn’t be the first time a politician was insincere with an apology,  but she did it.  Apologize for what?  Oh yeah! Silly me! It’s a no no to defend one’s self, apparently. Not to the Messiah Steve. Steve is always right (pun intended!).   Why would Ms Guergis need redemption?

Perhaps Ex-Lax Max should apologize for attempting to defend hisself back when he fucked up too? Oh right, he’s a dreamy male and can do no wrong. Yes, Tammee, Ex-Lax Max blamed Ms Couillard for his problems after much denial. Selective memory?  Gawd, she’s shameless.

I was also highly critical of the double standard between she and Ex-Lax Max; the fact that she was kicked out of caucus for unknown reasons and Ex-Lax Max was not and he made the big boo boo.  The double standard by Steve and his cheerleaders. Julie Couillard was publicly blamed & humiliated in the corporate  media for the sins of Ex-Lax Max. Guergis was blamed for the sins of her toad of a husband.

Now, it has come out that both Guergis and Jaffer have been cleared of any wrong doing by the RCMP.

She still believes Ex-Lax Max is still accountable to the people. Tell me, dear princess, if he’s soooo accountable, how come I, a Canadian voter, is banned from commenting at his blog?  It’s his right to ban me, but don’t dare come out and call him accountable because banning me or anyone else from commenting at his site is anything but. Hell, I even excercised great restraint and laid off the profanity and nick names. I really did!

Once again, I also know, that you don’t give a rat’s ass about the health of Ms Guergis or her baby. Because, simply put, you’re a shallow, cold, heartless bitch who only cares about shoe shopping and make up, because, there’s nothing else. Nothing even remotely resembling substance to your pathetic life except to be the trophy wife of some Canadian Forces major.  I wonder if he knows how she fantacizes over Ex-Lax Max?

Why an Election Must Happen Sooner, Rather Than Later

After hearing about that miserable budget and the latest developments on investigation torturegate, and of course, the ongoing blunders of Jason Kenney and other of St-Stevie’s Harpercon flunkies.  I have rethought my position since I posted To Call or Not To Call an Election This Spring. The more I read and hear about lately, the more I agree with Frank Graves, that an election must be called this spring and not in the fall, but I have somewhat different reasons for it. I realize many have expressed that a spring election would only yield the exact same results as the last time. They would more than likely be right, barring any other surprises between now and say sometime in April or May if an election were called. However, some new action would be occurring; the face of parliament would eventually change. Not having an election now doesn’t motivate any true action.

Waiting til the Fall would be another disaster: a Harpercon majority. St-Stevie does have a talent for resilience. Many are of the belief that the economy will be recovered by then. I don’t think so; especially not when there are pundits and economists who cry fear at the aging baby boomers seaking government resources ‘in droves’.  I am also skeptical because, the U.S. keeps digging themselves deeper and deeper and like it or not, they are our neighbours and if they sink any deeper, they could well take us down with them, but I digress.  It doesn’t really matter what I think of the economy. In fact, as we have learned, it doesn’t matter if the economy has recovered or not and by how much: it all depends how well the Harpercon media serves up that Economic recovery kool-aid.  Given the speculation of economic recovery by the fall, I will guess that the Harpercon media will sell this.  It also tells me that, as Jean Lapierre speculated to Ricky P right after the budget, this budget is going to set the stage for a fall election. This is, once again, St-Stevie controlling the agenda. Result of that?  St-Stevie comes out the hero, yet again, this time for having ‘saved’ the economy, whether it’s true or not.

As for Iggy, well, I agree with Frank Graves, he just isn’t going to get any better. He gave it the college try during prorogation. So much he could have capitalized on and in all honesty, with the anger toward St-Stevie’s prorogation; for stripping our democratic rights away and the hard backhanded way he did this in, Liberals’ numbers should have gone up even more; they should have soared far above the Harpercons, and they could well have under a different leader. No, Iggy had his chance to shine during prorogation and to keep it going throughout the olympics, even. After all, if one reads their history, the Liberals were the ones who bid for those ‘gold medal winning’ olympics in Vancouver. Also, ‘Own the Podium’ was started in 2005; when the Liberals were still in power. This info isn’t  really important, except for many Canadians giving St-Stevie credit for the record breaking medal wins at the 2010 Olympics. No, Iggy just isn’t going to get any better. However, the Liberals don’t have anyone else and they can’t really justify a new leadership campaign right now, due largely in part to Iggy not having gone through the ultimate test: a federal election. We can pretty much predict that outcome without money spent, but perhaps it needs to be formalized.

The Bloc Quebecois and the N.D.P. really have nothing to lose or gain. Neither will ever govern, unless, of course, they join a coalition. The raison d’etre for the Bloc Quebecois is very much alive and well; will for Quebec sovereignty or not. For them, it doesn’t really matter when they go to an election, give or take a few seats, they’re not big game changers.

It would appear that St-Stevie’s olympic lustre is dulling and that now the heat is turned up on torturegate and his MPs continue to make total asses of themselves from Jason Kenney’s bigotted and idiotic immigration guides to  MP temper tantrums in public places to the village idiot of parliament giving insane speeches. For those reasons, the best St-Stevie can hope for in a spring election is another minority government; same as 2008, right? Pointless excercise?  I think not. For openers, after a third minority, his party will have read the writing on that reformatory bathroom wall; St-Stevie will never yield a majority for them if he hasn’t done it by now. I can see them pressuring him on out that door. I suspect there are plenty of cons of varying degrees; inside and outside the Reformatories who would love to take his place. I already mentioned Jean Charest, but there are others. In fact, I’m sure there is no shortage of Conservative leadership hopefuls to throw their hats into the ring.

As for the Liberals, no doubt, Iggy would lose now.  He may well be right in saying ‘Canadians don’ t want an election’ and I think one of the Liberals’  problems is that they’re still gun shy from reactions when Iggy threw the gauntlet last September; he was lambasted from being oppositional. Guess what? Canadians will get over it. In fact, the Liberals’ reaction to the latest Harpercon budget is simply giving them the image as whimps. Yes, they could offer alternatives and yes, it should happen sooner rather than later. However, more importantly, if the Liberals go all out and join the NDP and the Bloc and vote against this budget, they may well garner more respect than even Peter Donolo could imagine. Like it or not, this is the perfect political crisis for Iggy and the Liberals to throw down the gauntlet.  That said, St-Stevie would still, more than likely, win another minority government, but probably a smaller minority. Clearly, that result would justify the ousting of Iggy.

A new leader would have to be selected.  The only thing that would worry me about a new liberal leader selection would be yet another coronation. Bob Rae, simply because he’s itching for it and he’s part of that old boys’ network. Bob Rae as leader would be suicide.  Neither Quebec, nor Ontario would support him. As for Gerard Kennedy, I don’t see it neither; not in Quebec anyway. No, I think what’s best is no more leaders from Toronto for the time being, especially after that whole Denis Coderre fiasco.  Another reason is that the Liberals are now wearing the brand o the ‘Toronto party’.

Then, there is the minority government itself.  Right now, as things stand, all St-Stevie needs to swim through confidence motions is just one party to keep him afloat. It’s also what keeps St-Stevie’s games of Divide and Conquer so successful.  No one in the opposition is motivated to attempt to work with one another; to find common ground and work together. I believe that a spring election could well yield a  smaller minority for St-Stevie, so instead of needing only one party to keep him swimming, he would need two or all three of them to keep confidence motions afloat. Opposition parties would probably be even more motivated to work together and St-Stevie’s little Divide and Conquer games would be even less successful. Especially, since St-Stevie’s days as PM and leader of the Reformatories would be numbered and a new leader chosen. The opposition parties would also be more motivated to find common ground and perhaps even form a coalition or, take a page from the St-Stevie playbook and merge.

Now, since Iggy doesn’t want that spring election as he knows that will be the end of his tenure and more than likely, his political career, I wonder if  the Liberals will have back bone and show up in droves to vote against that budget? Peter Donolo, show us you still have that midas touch everyone keeps talking about and advise the MPs to vote in droves against the budget. After all, when it comes right down to it, you were hired to help the whole Liberal party; not Iggy, alone.

What say you all?

Pre-Game Action Before Your Olympics, Perhaps?

Yes, nice fun ReformaTory Games only Stevie can play, although, thus far he hasn’t been successful, has he?

Haiti became the would be perfect crisis for him but, obviously never raised his numbers, in fact, according to most polls as of late, Stevie’s Harpercon numbers continue on that downhill spiral.

The anti-prorogation rallies across Canada were a success; many of the venues even acknowledging the plight of Haitians.

Also, the fact is most Canadians acknowledge and expect their politicians to react quickly toward a crisis in another part of the world or domestically. Regardless of whether or not Stevie remained at the top, prorogation or no prorogation, it is his job to react quickly.  In fact, I would presume that one of the reasons for Stevie’s dismal showing as of late would be that Canadians would have liked to see parliament reopen for this crisis. As Jane Taber had recently asked Jason Kenney on an episode of Question Period, ‘can’t the Haitian crisis be handled with parliament sitting?’ To which Kenney showed a sudden need for speech therapy.

Furthermore, none of the opposition parties came out to criticise the Harpercons for their handling of the Haitian crisis. In fact, the opposition parties are doing their part to help Haiti as well.

Now, the trap. It would seem that Stevie & the Harpercons want to cancel March & Easter Breaks: a time MPs generally go back home to their families and check out their constituencies. After that prorogation ruckus, It would be  assumed that most Canadians would want this to happen. Certainly Conservative Canadians who were against the prorogation of parliament would be for this.

Traditionally, the parliamentary calendar does remain the same after prorogation of parliament.  If the PM wishes to change the calendar, all opposition parties must vote unanimously for this change.

According to Harpercons, they say there will be just too much work and they must make up for the time he prorogued parliament. Typical Stevie and his Kingly ways: parliament must only operate when it’s convenient for Stevie.

“Instead of playing silly games, the PM should recall Parliament right away to deal with all the important issues facing Canadians,” says Karl Belanger , spokesperson for NDP Leader Jack Layton.

Indeed. I was waiting for something like that to be said, by someone; anyone, really. This is exactly what Canadian voters should be thinking. Be for or against the suspension of spring breaks, but the fact of the matter is if they’re falling so far behind on their work, perhaps parliament shouldn’t be prorogued. Perhaps Stevie should call everyone back to parliament as soon as possible. The Liberals are already there doing some work and being productive. I’m pretty sure the N.D.P. and the Bloc Quebecois would head  back to Ottawa if parliament were called to session again.

Liberal House Leader Ralph Goodale mocked the Conservatives’ sudden change of heart from demanding time to “recalibrate” to now wanting to toil straight through.

“It’s clearly a government in full panic mode . . . trying to scramble out of a mess they created,” Goodale said in an interview Wednesday night.

In spite of what Goodale said, it is likely that the Liberals will entertain Harpercon propositions. Liberal support which has been going up since prorogation, is quite fragile and can change at any time. I even suspect those so-called centrists or small c conservatives who have been supporting Stevie and the Harpercons are looking for a reason to give support back to him. According to many pollsters and pundits, Liberal support is only up because of Stevie’s latest high-handed games, not because of a sudden Iggy love-fest.  In fact, some may argue that it’s not the act of proroguation of parliament itself but more the underhanded way Stevie went about it

“It’s completely a reaction to Stephen Harper,” Bricker, president of Ipsos-Reid, said in a Jan. 24 interview.

“It’s not because people have a really big issue with proroguing the House,” Bricker said.

“It’s really the (political) games, that’s what gets under people’s skin. That’s what you are seeing the effects of (in the poll).”

Well, I would say the act of prorogation itself did play a large part in the recent polls. There are many Canadians calling for parliamentary reform so that prorogation can’t happen again or, at the very least, much more difficult to do so. I think most who attended the rallies and joined the facebook group would agree with me. Most certainly the conservative voters who spoke out against prorogation would agree with me here.

The question becomes will the opposition parties vote unanymously for this calendar change? According to senior Harpercons, they strongly believe that will be on board with this. Gordon O’Connor said,

there is no reason for the House of Commons to take constituency breaks during these weeks. Quite frankly, we would be surprised if the Opposition disagreed.

Gee, Gordo, no time to spend with constituents?  Just because your boss can’t deal with them doesn’t mean the others might not want to.  Sometimes, it’s a good idea to be in touch with the citizens of the country you lead.  You Harpercons would know that if you only made some semblance of effort to open your emails, even if it is a form letter.

That aside: the trap Stevie set is not whether or not anyone will go along with his proposal to skip holiday weeks this spring; there surely will be. However, as mentioned above, the parliamentary  calendar remains the same with or without prorogation and to change it requires a unanimous vote; as in no dissention. I have doubts about that kind of vote being unanimous.  The Bloc Quebecois hasn’t said much since prorogation and I guess if he feels Stevie’s proposal is in the best interests of Quebecers he’ll go along with it.  It looks like the Liberals will go along with it. Will the N.D.P. ? Anybody’s guess.

If we remember one of Stevie’s tactics for remaining so successful is that he knew the game of divide and conquer. He would keep the opposition parties divided. The reason the cross Canada rallies last month were so successful was that the politicians from the opposition were united for that short period.  The picture on the front page of the Montreal Gazette showing Thomas Mulcair, Gilles Duceppe and Marc Garneau (we only see his arm at the other side of Mulcair, but still)  walking side by side leading the anti-prorogation procession through the streets of Downtown Montreal to Philips’ Square.  Our opposition MPs were leading us in unison.

I am also realistic enough to know that this unification was fragile at best.  Unfortunately, I had already seen Mulcair take some shots at the Liberals on Question Period since the rallies.   Right now, as a whole, the opposition is not united or feeling particularly collaborative; this already doesn’t look good for a unanimous vote on calendar change. Also, no matter which party votes for or against the Harpercon proposed calendar change, columnists, pundits, bloggers and of course, the rest of Canadian voters; left or right will no doubt either praise or criticize whatever was voted for and by whom.   Yikes! This isn’t going to be pretty no matter how we look at it.

That is why, Stevie will choose to play the tactician; it works for him. As pointed out earlier, his proposal will have succeeded in dividing the opposition and Canadians; a formula that could raise his numbers back up again. Make no mistake, he doesn’t care whether there is work that will have fallen behind`and catching up with it.  He will have divided and then conquered. Or will they? Do I dare hope for the miracle that the albeit uneasy peace between opposition parties to continue and that they will see right through Stevie’s tactical game? If he were really concerned about being behind on work, he wouldn’t have prorogued parliament in the first place or he would unprorogue parliament as soon as possible.

If we thought this was going to be a bumpy ride; prepare for more of  St-Stevie’s antics between now and March 3; including the reading of the budget, which is sure to be a poison pill.

Why Harpercons and other Neocons Have a Clear Advantage and Why it Must Change

After reading that title, anyone scared? You should be, that is, unless, of course, you are a neo-con and even then, much like the tea-baggers south of the border, they are only swallowing what today’t corporatist media is spoon feeding them. Like their tea-bagging friends, most don’t have a clue what they’re signing up.

Yes, today’s right slanted corporatist media, owned by Harpercon friendly corporations and individuals are running the show. They would only hire and publish or allow on the airwaves like minded writers, hosts and pundits. They are great at not only spoonfeeding what they want their audiences to swallow, but to brainwash them into thinking listening, watching or reading anyone else would be dangerous: anybody outside their media outfits are nothing more than crazy lefty liars and/or elitists. How else did ol’ Steve have a ‘great 2009′ as columnists from National Posties and Grope and Fail (don’t remember who came up with that one, but I like the term) say he had? How else did Stevie’s numbers remain within majority grasp in spite of his transgressions?

Columnists and the Blogging Tories are all touting ol’ Stevie as THE man of the year; the politician of the year. L. Ian Thompson of the Montreal Gazette, not be outdone by his brethren at the other  Harpercon friendly bird cage liners, goes in so far as to call ol’ Stevie the politician of the decade!

Years ago, we would have been outraged at the allegations of torturing war detainees, no matter how bad they might have been. We would have been even more outraged at the cover up. We certainly wouldn’t have allowed a sitting Prime minister to prorogue parliament over some unpleasantness they’re confronted with, or at the very least, we would have put up the good fight.

Nowadays, the corporatist media just simply feeds us the typical party line: why should we care about what happens to the Terrible Taliban? They through acid in girls’ faces: they’ve repressed women for so long. Most, like the screeching blogging tories, run with this. Never do they stop and think  about the fact that torturing detainees is in blatant violation of the Geneva Convention: it breaks international law.   These right wingnuts claim to love Steve and the Harpercons because of  their ideas for maintaining law and order. Well, what kind of example do our leaders set when they, themselves break the law? How would they like to see their precious Uncle Stevie before the international tribunal in The Hague? I know that I would and so would many of my friends.

Stevie’s latest proroguation is far more sinister and evil than last year’s. What’s more outrageous about this latest proroguation is that it was done over the phone!  All the columnists and pundits are out. The Blogging Tories are blogging away with glee. Funny how they whined about the coalition being undemocratic but this proroguation is perfectly ok by them.

Last year, it was about not losing power. This year, it’s about setting the stage for the next federal election and getting the right slanted media to get Canadians to not only like it, but to embrace it.  He is worse than a schoolyard bully. He knows he has the numbers within majority grasp, but he must keep pummelling it would seem. With the Liberals at an all time low in disarray, he is coming up with a poison pill for Jim Flaherty to hand down, like to stop whatever stimulus spending was left to be done, cut all social programs, perhaps even sell off crown corporations to private enterprises (no doubt, heavily deregulated; caused the recession  but who cares, because greed must prevail, right?).  Basically, ol’ Stevie’s message in typical schoolyard bully form is:

…put the Liberals on notice that they must either accept that his government will act as though it has a majority, or be prepared to drop the government on the next budget. This only hours after Mr. Ignatieff felt obliged in year end interviews to stand down from his strategy of election mongering that had squandered so much of his credibility last year.

The Liberals appear to be without a leader these days. Iggy is incognito for the most part with the exception of a few appearances and year end speeches. Whatever speaking is happening, is coming Bob Rae and other members of the Liberal Party. One can only think Iggy is on the way out and the Liberals are regrouping and attempting to plot new strategy yet again.

Even Norman Spector, another useless hack, is now predicting an April election. All are in agreement he is planning his majority. More than a majority, but a totalitarian regime, it would seem.

Now, with the help of a video from Pale Cold of  A Creative Revolution: here is a little reminder as to who Stevie and his nasty little ”friends” are:

Yes, also let’s be reminded of another dangerous thing about ol’ Stevie: his membership of that Evangelical far right Christian sub-culture. You know, that sub-culture that is anti everything and everyone? That very same sub culture that boast a membership with the likes of See Sawah run, Georgie, Dickie and Mike Hunckapee?

Earlier, I saw a blog  discussing this latest and very sinister proroguation from the Jurist from Accidental Deliberations.

Sure, Harper’s prorogation once again made a mockery of our democracy. But since we can’t be bothered to do anything about it, we’ll chalk it up as a win for him.

Discouraging? Absolutely, but more than that, we should be terrified. Here’s why. When even now, fans of Harper such as columnists and opinion writers from the Grope And Fail criticize this proroguation as underhanded and undemocratic and when an Asper paper such as the Ottawa Citizen are allowing musings about ol’ Stevie’s aspirations for turning Canada into a dictatorship, this should send alarm bells to all, yes, even so-called centrists or small ‘c’ consevatives (if they even exist anymore).

Speaking of whom, ever notice how easy it is to push them to Stevie’s far right these days? Wasn’t hard to do: threaten evil socialism and the evils of Joseph Stalin did it. Corporatist media machine again over using and misusing the evil ‘S’ word.  Well, one way to swing them further left is to perhaps bring up General Pinochet’s Chile and other Military Junta regimes.

The Jurist is sadly right here; our complacency is one of the reasons why we’re inching closer and closer to an American styled health care system. It’s why we have become a laughing stock on the world stage. No L. Ian Macdonald, lay off the meds, ol’ Stevie is not a great force on the world stage (L. Ian really does think he’s a force on the world stage; read it to believe it!).

It is time for the Liberals and the NDP to get more aggressive. Hell, it’s time for them to merge already.

I have another question that I’m hoping a blogging tory can answer or someone like that: How come it’s only ok for ol’ Stevie to use dirty political tactics, prepare election calls and to be undemocratic but it’s not ok when the opposition parties do it??

It is time for us to learn from previous generations of activists and take action. Ol’ Stevie wants to be left in peace to enjoy the  Olympics? Let’s not  give him peace. He is counting on issues like climate change and torturegate to go way; let’s keep it alive and well.   I also don’t mean just with our blogs. We have to be more creative than that. Let’s come up with some ideas. Now that we have the internet with such networks like Progressive Bloggers, we can communicate ideas to each other far more easily and quickly amongst ourselves.  Let’s take back our Canada, they we knew it to be before Stevie completely turns this country into a banana republic; a dictatorship; a dictatorship perhaps even mimicking that of General Pinochet era Chile (ok, maybe a bit extreme, but I’ve learned that today’s neo-cons are that  extreme). Yes, today’s Right Slanted Corporatist media provides an unfair advantage for Stevie and the Harpercons, but it doesn’t mean we have to allow them to steamroll over us. It is important to not leave ol’ Stevie in peace. He is already the operation of flushing Canada down there:

Fuck off Stevie! Stay gone this time! Flush yourself down that Conservative toilet why don’t you?
