Chief Blair Admits To Lying– How Refreshing! And The Hits Just Keep On Coming! UPDATE

Break out the champagne! Chief Bill Blair admits to lying  to lying about that “five feet law” and that he was acting on his own without knowledge of the McGinty government–so he says.

Toronto’s police chief is admitting there never was a five-metre rule that had people fearing arrest if they strayed too close to the G20 security perimeter.

Civil libertarians were fuming after hearing Friday that the Ontario cabinet gave police the power to stop and search anyone coming within five metres of the G20 fences in Toronto for a one week period.

However, the Ministry of Community Safety says all the cabinet did was update the law that governs entry to such things as court houses to include specific areas inside the G20 fences — not outside.

A ministry spokeswoman says the change was about property, not police powers, and did not include any mention of a zone five metres outside the G20 security perimeter.

Ya don’t say? Do I detect the McGinty government bailing and leaving Blair holding the bag? An ordinarily scummy politician thing to do, but I’ll make an exception here, given those 1000 some odd arrests and suspension of  human rights.  Whether the McGinty government is really casting Blair as the fall guy or they really didn’t know ahead of time what he & his  Barney Fifes on steroids with their expensive toys would be up to,  shouldn’t the McGinty government go further by pressuring Mayor David Miller to fire, or at least, pressure  Blair (or is the firing of municipal police chiefs up to the provincial gov’t in Ontario?) to resign?

No,  resignation isn’t enough of an indignation for Blair. Like the Reverend Paper Boy , I want his sorry fat ass in jail now.  In fact, I would prefer that he share a cell with Big Bubbah, the meanest, baddest biker who is pissed with him for having a hand in his incarceration in the first place! No joke! Here’s more from the Reverend Paper Boy, because I haven’t much more to add:

Of all the crimes that can be committed, short of murder or child molestation I can’t offhand think of any that are worse than a POLICE CHIEF making up his own laws. Call it breach of promise, breach of the peace, dereliction of duty, fraud, criminal negligence — I don’t care what charge they come up with, but this man – by his own smug admission – absolutely betrayed the trust placed in him as a peace officer and in doing so violated the civil rights of thousands of citizens

In betraying that trust, I wonder how many people in Toronto are actually going to feel safe as they did before this G20 circus?   Yes,  trust has been damaged for the long term, if not permanently, but if anyone were really serious about healing police-community relations in Toronto, it would start with the resignation/firing of Bill Blair and then, he must go through a taste of his own medicine; a very public arrest, bail hearing, trial, incarcarceration with Big Bubbah; no kid gloves.

Also, for the risk of someone advocating ambulance chasing.  I hope there are lawyers out there who are outraged enough to use their skill for greater good here and start suing the Toronto Police department, Bill Blair himself  and whomever else was involved in this seedy scheme of Blair’s.

BeneDiction has kindly left info where you can file your complaint. It may or may not go anywhere, but as BeneD says, do it anyway, be counted.   Flood them in these complaints as it would be that all important first step in taking your life back as well as reaffirming your human rights.

I also heard that Amnesty International is calling for an investigation into how the police handled  themselves. I hope they continue to mount pressure on this.

But Should the McGinty government be let off the hook? I’m not convinced by their spokeswoman’s statements neither.

Me thinks Dalton McGinty still has some ‘splain’ to do; like why he passed some regulation changes in a clandestine manner. The McGinty government needs to take its’ share of responsibility for this  debacle as well.

There is more than enough blame to go around, but first, I would like to see Blair in jail and then Redneck Ryan learn a little humility to have to admit that his super-hero is a lying scumbucket who invented the laws to suit his whims on the air.

Redneck Ryan, I think you should be eating crow by now, and I think you should be eating it on the air, on your show tonight. I will be paying attention. The super-hero you were selling Torontonians last night,  just admitted to being a rogue sleazey piece of shit; far worse than the protesters, media people with accreditation on them you so enjoyed chastising.  Then, again, this is Ryan, someone who never let pesky details like facts get in the way of his little agenda. Hell, wake up! Even Dan Cook, who can give right wingnut lessons even told CJAD he found the Police to have failed miserably. Oh yes, let’s see if Redneck Ryan is capable of admitting when he was wrong on the air!!

Oh, and Ryan, if you’re such a tough guy, have the balls to answer my tweets on Twitter personnally, will ya? Don’t send your flunky,  Andre to do your dirty work for you.  Is he also paid to be your Twitter bodyguard??

UPDATE: This in from Adam Radwanski of the Grope & Fail. The hits just keep on coming! McGuinty has ‘washed his hands’  of the police.

Clearly, Chief Blair has a lot to answer for. But it was the Liberals who set this mess in motion, and declined to put an end to it when they had ample chance.

Needless to say, McGuinty has pulled a disappearing act.  I wonder how long he can remain in hiding?

Now, the Liberals are ducking any responsibility for the fact that they effectively (if inadvertently) gave police powers they were never intended to have. “The language of the regulation is very clear,” a spokesperson said, even as other senior Liberals acknowledged that they themselves were confused by it. Meanwhile, the Premier is nowhere to be seen, having not talked to reporters yet this week.

How long will it take before McGuinty must resign and Blair goes to jail?? Better still, can we make Master Steve go away–permanently?

  • I just saw a photo of the seized weapons. They don’t appear to be tagged for official evidence. Blair could have retrieved these items from a closet.

I was under the impression that the black bloc had nothing but rocks and sticks. In the video feeds and pictures, and no, not those from MSM, but pics by bystanders, protesters, onlookers from balconies, amateur video, independent media, etc., never showed any of them brandishing things like maschetes. And those are way too big to conceal. Didn’t see or hear of any knife fights or wielding maschetes.

And you’re right; they’re not tagged. Why not?

I just noticed now that the weaponry belonged to some poor schmuck going early Saturday morning to one of those midieval jousting fantasy game thingeys. He had been unfortunate enough to have it confiscated but not detained. Well, gee, small favor for his trouble

Other stuff, also completely non-G20 related. Stay classy, Blair!
