Catch 22 Conservatives Wants Our Help To Help Opposition

Before I begin my campaign,  I put up a poll yesterday, in part, because of lighthearted fun, but also, as an experiment I’m conducting. The poll is Who would you vote for Prime Minister of Canada? So far, although I’ve had few voters,  there could well be something to the none of the above choice on a ballot if an election were held today; the turnip is winning.  Please stop by and vote to humour this humble scribe, and so I can continue my experiment.  Much obliged.

I don’t know if anyone has noticed, but the left sidebar of my blog is now sporting a Catch 22 Harper Conservatives badge. Progressive Bloggers, you too, can get one for your blog.  You can find it at the bottom right hand corner of the site.

For those who don’t yet know what Catch 22 Conservatives is, here goes:

Catch 22 is a grassroots campaign organized and carried out by individual Canadians to prevent the Harper Conservatives from being re-elected to government in the next federal election.

The name “Catch 22 Harper Conservatives” is symbolic in that it represents the 22 days of prorogation of Parliament, which silenced debate in the House of Commons. Our goal is to defeat at least one Conservative incumbent for each day of prorogation.

During the coming months, we will encourage people from across the country to join Catch 22 and actively support our campaign. In next federal election, voters in Catch 22 ridings will have an opportunity to decide history!

Here is their strategy:

Our strategy is to work in a limited number of ridings (about 30 to 40) where the Conservatives are vulnerable enough to be defeated. As the campaign progresses, we will continuously assess the relative strength of the opposition candidates in our target ridings. Once an election is called, we will ask voters in each target riding to support the candidate (Liberal, New Democrat, Bloc or Green) that we believe has the best chance of defeating the Conservative incumbent.

A Catch 22 Campaign Team, headed by a local coordinator, will be set up to work in each targeted riding. Individuals and organizations will be recruited in each riding to assist with our campaign. Local volunteers will distribute Catch 22 brochures in their riding that (a) explain why we feel the Conservative incumbent should be defeated, (b) identify the candidate with the best chance of defeating the Conservative incumbent, and (c) advocate for proportional representation.

Given the fact that a turnip is beating out every other leader on my poll, our opposition parties need all the help they can get. The  corporate media which is Harpercon friendly for the most part, certainly doesn’t help. So, it is largely up to like minded bloggers like us to  give it the push we need to get rid of Stevie spiteful. And the sooner, the better. Canada is already starting to be unrecognizable.  Do we really want Stevie spiteful to continue his reign of dictator?

Don’t forget to stop by and vote at my poll. Thanks.

Do read, it’s a facinating story. Maybe I should do some digging. Great post, ck.

Thanks, Kim. Did you vote at my poll? If not, please do. I know it sounds silly, but I am conducting an experiment.

  • Kim

Yes I did. And I have a great turnip recipe too!

you should share it, especially if there is a vegetarian version of it. I’m game.

It’s easy and delicious! Cut turnip and fresh local carrots into cubes and cook together. Drain. Add butter, a pinch of brown sugar and powdered ginger. Mash it all together, squishing it into pulp (Picture Steven Harper as you do this) Whip it good! (Just like the conservative caucus). Let me know if this is a satisfying culinary experience for you…
