A Harpercon Senator Loses it and Uses dah F Word
‘Shut the f— up’ about abortion, says Harpercon senator Nancy Ruth to International aid groups. Oh, you old biddy, just go ‘head, ya know ya wanna: say it: FUCK!! It would at the very least make her somewhat entertaining. I had to get that out of the way, because she has left an even more ominous warning of things to come, especially if Steve gets his majority. Something I always knew would happen but many don’t believe. Perhaps Sen. Nancy Ruth will make you all believers.
“shut the f— up” or risk Prime Minister Stephen Harper taking even more harsh measures – abroad, or maybe even at home if abortion becomes an election issue.
Is that a threat or an election promise on behalf of Brother Steve? I for one would like to know.
Yes, one may argue after reading that Toronto Star article that she is saying that if these aid groups don’t clam up on abortion, Ruth is probably saying that Canada won’t send any aid at all.
“We do want people to feel a little nervous about where our institutions are going because our development effectiveness is actually being undermined,” said Joanna Kerr, chief executive of Action Aid International. “We are increasingly distancing ourselves from an urgent agenda … to advance the rights of women and girls worldwide.”
Kerr and other aid experts appearing on Parliament Hill Monday say there is now a “chilling” climate in the foreign-aid community, where advocates are afraid of speaking out for fear of having their aid dollars cut.
Then Senator Ruth goes on to say:
“I hope I’m not proven wrong but I have every confidence that it will include family planning,” Ruth said. “Canada is still a country with free and accessible abortion. Leave it there. Don’t make it into an election issue.”
Well, well, the claws and the truth about the Harpercon theocratic to do list begins. Me thinks she’s hinting if everyone doesn’t stop talking about abortion including in foreign aid packages, that Brother Steve could and would criminalize abortions here in Canada.
Well, judging by that video with Harpercon MP Dean Delmastro, whether or not anyone continues to hound the Harpercons on abortion below,
No Senator, I’d say you have it wrong, whether or not International Aid Groups, the Canadian population, G8 countries, The Opposition Parties or Hillary Clinton hound Brother Steve about abortion funding in any aid package or not, Steve will criminalize abortion here, in Canada if he gets that coveted totalitarian regime. The only difference really is that with all those folks mentioned above speaking of it, it backs Steve into a corner, now doesn’t it?
As for fears of Brother Steve backing out of Canada’s commitments to foreign aid, well, Steve is already on pretty shaky ground on the international stage, isn’t he? For him to back out because he refuses to bend on his fetus fetishist ways is certainly not going to help his standing on the international stage, is it?
Here is the audio of Senator Nancy Ruth having a cow in front of all those aid groups.
That Regressive Abortion Debate–Let the Wedgie Games Begin!
Yes, that abortion debate is alive and well. I betcha Brother Steve and Co must be itching at all those proposed state bills designed to circumvent Roe v Wade. They say, no! no! no! But we know they mean Yah! Yeah!
What we’re seeing now is a classic example of wedge political games Brother Steve plays. Basically, Brother Steve and his SoCon flunkies, like Bev Oda, are emphatically refusing funding for safe abortions in their maternal health initiative, while the other G8 members have made it clear that abortion must be included in any such initiative. Yes, Brother Steve, keep us looking very classy on that world stage, why don’t you?
More importantly, the abortion issue is back to haunt us again. It came back in the form of MP Rod Bruinooge’s ridiculous bill, making it a crime to coerce a woman into having an abortion, but let’s be clear, it doesn’t work in reverse; those fetus fetishist protesters outside these abortion clinics will be able to continue their arm twisting tactics in a feverish effort to keep women from going inside. I have a feeling this is just the start of things to come.
Not to mention, I don’t think we’ve heard the last of this bloated clown below:
or others for that matter.
Just a thought, since Iggy and the Liberals are starting to perform better albeit slowly (polls don’t reflect this as of yet, but still..), and now that the NDP and the Liberals are significantly divided, I wonder if Brother Steve’s next move would be to target the pro-life liberals like Dan McTeague and Paul Szabo and get them all nice and uppity, thus creating further divisions in the Liberals? I wonder if that is the goal for them bringing the abortion debate back to the forefront?
Again, that reminder as to what desperate women had to resort to before Roe v Wade. I wonder if the Harpercons are actually that naive as to believe no rudimentary abortions of any kind are happening in the third world?
As mentioned, let the wedgie games begin. Do listen to that blowhard Dean Delmastro talk at a pro-life march in Ottawa in the above video; he is (presumably) speaking on behalf of the Harpercons and Brother Steve. It is what will come if they get that totalitarian regime they so want.
However, for the time being anyway, I think we can take solace at Brother Steve’s new all-time low polling numbers. We also know they can go up again at anytime as he does have a propensity for bouncing back quite easily. We should never be lulled into a false sense of security.
Hillary and Steve: Hmmm! Nah, How’s About George and Steve?
Oh, I bet about now Steve is missing his old buddy and puppeteer Georgie Bush just about now, while the Horrible Hillary just continues to give Stevie these very public spankings. Way to go Hill! If only she really deserved that kind of praise.
Other than criticizing him for leaving out three Members of the Arctic council and pretty much omitting Aboriginal concerns in a meeting of the Arctic Ocean members las Monday, progressives shouldn’t be all that proud of her jabs to St-Stevie, however, certain blogging romper roomies shouldn’t be so quick to condemn her neither.
Hillary was absolutely right about criticizing the Harpercons’ rather pathetic approach to funding mothers and kids in developing countries, leaving out not only safe accessilble abortions but contraception as well.
“You cannot have maternal health without reproductive health,” Ms. Clinton said at a news conference after a meeting of G8 foreign ministers in Gatineau, Que. “And reproductive health includes contraception and family planning and access to legal, safe abortion.
Well, no shit, Shirlock! Unfortunately, when con hacks like Norman Spector get their knickers in a bunch with near glee, I have to wonder if this debacle is so great for our side. This simple Harpercon response would be to “Go Tell Obama” as Spector puts it, in referring back to that pathetic health care reform package where Dems tied themselves in a knot, pandering to fetus fetishists, to pass that pathetic bill. Really!
Yeah, yeah, one can argue they had no choice but to add that anti-abortion stuff in order to pass this pathetic watered down health care bill, but it doesn’t wash, as Obama did have every opportunity last summer to pass something much better if he weren’t so busy pandering to Rush and Fox News Crowd and trying to convince the tea-bagger hit parade he wasn’t any Marxist Muslim out to take over the world in vain.
I’m glad they passed something, I guess something is better than nothing, but it also takes away credence from her statements regarding contraception and abortion funding in Developping countries.
I would say that it’s about now Stevie should start missing the old guard of Georgie and Dickie: evangelical Christian Fundies of a feather.
Monday, she had also went on CTV to strenuously request the Harpercons to extend our mission in GW Bush’s war in Afghanistan: Ya know, the one President Obama took ownership of so unnecessarily?
Her willingness to ruffle feathers here – on Monday, she criticized Canada’s convening of a meeting on the Arctic and publicly asked for Ottawa to keep troops in Afghanistan past a 2011 deadline – is hinting at underlying tensions between Washington and Ottawa that have surprised some diplomatic observers
Tensions between Washington DC and Ottawa, hmmm! Wouldn’t be the first time. Was this a tactical ploy to convince St-Stevie to extend the mission beyond 2011? St-Stevie maintains that he will not extend the mission. Of course he wouldn’t: for two reasons.
First and foremost, most Canadians want this mission to end yesterday, let alone 2011. To most, that is still too far as it is. Don’t be fooled, St-Stevie has proven that he doesn’t give a rat’s ass about the Canadian population and to this day, he still hasn’t proven otherwise. St-Stevie is every bit the war monger Georgie W Bush was (and more than likely, still is). It is for this reason I don’t think he’s flat out refusing rather than postponing a formal agreement to extend the mission.
For more than likely the same reason Steve is reintroducing that whole taking away that per vote subsidy from political parties, he is planning an election for this fall, perhaps even sooner. If he agreed to extending the mission now, even if a Rethuglican like Georgie or even See Sawah Run or hell, even Johnny Boy McCain asked him, it would be the biggest act of political suicide.
Great way to lose a general election. According to what I’ve read in the Blogging Romper Roomies from time to time, the Afghan war is wearing thin on Conservative voters as well.
The other thing is, as much as Steve has been sucking up to Obama to get some table scraps of hi “Buy American” legislation, the ‘wrong’ people are asking him. As mentioned, he may well have still refused to extend the mission from even the Rethuglicans…today. That certainly doesn’t mean that St-Stevie would even say no to them later…like after he wins a majority come this Fall, or sooner. Hell, he may even accept extending the mission to the Dems if and when he gets his precious majority, or even now if he wasn’t planning an election.
Funny, how Conservative pundits and their cheerleaders alike lambasted the likes of Jean Chretien and Paul Martin for being anti-American because they just couldn’t make enough of an effort to respect such a hero president like Georgie. Now, it seems that Steve is faster being shunned by Americans and naturally, those very same pundits would switch gears. In their little world, St-Stevie can never do anything wrong in their little worlds. However, I digress…
Yes, as I’ve mentioned above, I’m quite certain that Steve would want to seek comfort with Georgie because, Hillary is just too mean and clever for him, if not a bit hypocritical herself.
