Let me get this straight: with all the technology of teleconferencing complete with video if one must look at the others’ ugly faces and skype and all that, we practically close Toronto to tourists as to secure Steve’s hootenany at a cost of billions of dollars to the tax payers to basically tell these countries to be as stingy as Brother Steve is? Yes, we’re spending all this money so Steve can excercise that GW Bush imperialist styling of ordering Europeans to be as wingnutty and backward as he is. For what? So he wouldn’t feel so lonely?
Another thing I don’t get. We’ve had recessions before. Here in Canada, we’ve had worse and longer recessions. Never any talk of cutting our universal social programs out from under Canadians. Why must we now? With every recession, poverty levels (especially children) rise. Wouldn’t these people need these programs more than ever?
History reminder. Great Britain implemented their National Health Service in 1948, right in the middle of post war and broke Britain.
Steve, just because you want to be an ass-hole is no reason to force other world leaders to do so…
I wonder if Steve will pressure Obama to further pressure congress to further regulate it’s financial system? My guess is no, as one of the first things Steve would do is completely deregulate our financial industry if let loose with a majority.
Noticed how very few remember to give Paul Martin and his refusal to follow the U.S. example of deregulation credit for our stronger showing.
But do go ahead charging us for over priced seal and rubber chicken dinners, for photo ops to pretend they actually love each other.
No, I don’t get any of that.
But then, in a perfect world, I’d be living in Norway or Sweden.
