Hey, RCMP, It’s Called Protecting and Serving, Not Punting Practice!

Have a look at this video and tell me it doesn’t just piss you off: Kelowna RCMP Police Brutality

Did you catch that? That was Constable Geoff Mantler kicking a field goal off of the head of Buddy Tavares. Buddy was on leave from his job at a gold course because, get this, he had suffered BRAIN DAMAGE due to a motorcycle accident. This officer is DAMN LUCKY that this didn’t go worse. Lord knows, with a hard enough hit at the right angle and Buddy might not be here telling us about his tale today. He has finally spoken out and wants answers. He stated that he had come back from helping to clear geese from a gold course using a shotgun to frighten them away. This is something he states he has done for twenty years. I’m sure his manager will support this.

Through the CBC’s reporting on this, which can be found here for those interested, I saw on video the officer responsible, who looks to be in his mid to late twenties. So, here we have yet another incident of a young and inexperienced officer thinking he’s in the Wild West and literally putting the boots to a citizen who was totally compliant. This officer should be suspended WITHOUT PAY (he is currently receiving his full pay while on suspension) and should face charges of assault. As Tavares said pointed out, if he had been caught doing that to a dog, he would be in jail. Why should it be any less so for a member of the RCMP whose job it is to protect and serve, not practice their punting skills?

There are thousands of BC people, who think the RCMP should be, put out to pasture. Many don’t even want the RCMP as an icon for Canada anymore. Their image is in tatters, they have no credibility nor integrity left amongst them. They serve not the people, but they serve Campbell and his henchmen, Craig James, willing to do their dirty work for them. When asked, to do a further investigation of, Campbell’s corrupt sale of the BCR, they flatly refused. The RCMP only serve the evil in this province. They are far too corrupt, and, useless to the citizens. BC citizens, don’t have a feeling of security with the RCMP. We always, sit and wait for their treachery, to begin.

This is becoming the norm in BC these days. Completely unacceptable. The RCMP need a major reformation, or they need to be disbanded. (typo alert, it’s a golf course ;)

If it was the other way around and a member of the public strongly kicked a compliant RCMP officer in the face(drawing blood) who was in the prone position, down on all fours(both knees and hands). Then that person would be in custody and in jail awaiting trial. Not free to go home with pay. It is a hypocritical double standard. This IS an extreme circumstance for the officer to go without pay and remain in jailed custody until this assault trial takes place.

This extremely cowardly action and criminal act taken by a member of the RCMP which is a worse crime than what the Buddy Tavares is originally being charged for and Buddy may be innocent to boot.

When Buddy sues, he will receive a lot of money from the RCMP.
