On behalf of The Left Hand and myself, I would like to welcome a new guest contributor here at Sister Sage’s Musings (Since my contributors are both men, I may well change the name to Sister Sage and Friends or something along those lines: we’ll see).
He is Graeme Decarie, retired chair of the History Department at Concordia University, former local broadcaster at radio stations such as CJAD and writer. He is now settled in the east coast with his family.
He has also said that his two major achievements were flunking the 10th grade and he was kicked at Easter in Grade 11.
Yours truly was a student in his Pre-Confederate Canadian History class when I was a French major at Concordia almost 20 years ago. Pre-Confederate Canadian history is generally dry subject matter to most, including yours truly, but Graeme was one of the few who could not only make it interesting, but made it entertaining at times with his sense of humor and he never shied away from telling it like it was; the good, the bad and the ugly.
We met again on, you guessed it, everybody’s favourite electronic gathering place, Facebook. Those of you who are Facebook friends of mine have probably read commentary on my wall from Graeme Decarie regarding blog posts from either The Left Hand or myself. Like many of us at Progressive bloggers, he is concerned about the direction the world is headed.
Since I was looking (and still looking, of course: email me if interested) for guest contributors and I had the feeling Graeme may be interested in some part time blogging, expressing his concerns and his thoughts, I asked him if he might like to contribute here at SSM and he agreed.
Tomorrow morning, his first post will be published which I have read and it brings something a little different than most of the blogosphere. I’m sure we will also be looking forward to reading more from Graeme.
So, Graeme, Welcome to Sister Sage’s Musings!
