Meanwhile, at Canada Free Press (. . . Because without America there is no Free World!), a screaming headline by Charles McVety (no link):
Christians Concerned that Islamic Forces will Dampen Canada’s Support for Israel
You see, in the worldview of Charles McVety, Islam — those dark “Islamic forces” — is a monolith, just like Christianity is a monolith. It’s the Clash of Civilizations,™ people!
It’s also fundamentally dishonest.
Well, this Christian is rather concerned about the state of Charles McVety’s soul, because of this inherent lie (all Christians? what Muslims?) and the distinct lack of charity in that headline. Without love, we are nothing — remember, Charles?
This Christian is concerned headlines like the above foster racism, incite hatred and violence, and support bigotry, which would be decidedly unChristian. Love Thy Neighbour and all that.
This Christian is very sorely tempted to tell Charles McVety to go fuck himself, in the name of real Christians too Christianly to do so, but that would also be unChristian. And I do try to be a good Christian.
I’m an atheist. The next time I see “Dr.” McVety I’ll be sure to pass the message along. Verbatim. Though without attribution if you’d prefer.
Sister Sage speaks for this Christian. Charles McVety does not.

Thanks, but it was TorontoEmerg who wrote the post
It might seem unchristian to tell him to fuck off, but bigots and bullies like Chuckie need to be told from within their own ranks that an attitude adjustment might be in order.
It’s one of my biggest beefs with Christians (present company excluded) that they don’t stand up to these assholes when because of them kids are getting beat up in school and people are persecuted all over. The bigots use the faith to spread lies and hatred all the while relying on the fact that hardly anything is ever done about it.
That doesn’t strike me as very Christian either.
@pogge Please do, with attribution, though I am fairly certain Charles would think I am going straight to Hell anyway wrapped in a red ribbon.
@Bruce Yep. Let’s speak honestly, at least. When you deflect blame to the victim, and don’t speak up against violence, you are emphatically not speaking from your faith, but you’re scoring political points, wrapped in the cloak of religiosity.
Just want to chime in as a progressive in the Christian community. I agree with what TorontoEmerg has to say and feel that the likes of Charles are doing their best to distort the true Christian message of helping those who suffer, struggling for peace and spreading the good news to those who will listen. But don’t confuse me. I’m not an evangelist and beleive strongly in the seperation of church and state.
Christians need to stop translating their politics to suit the bible and should keep them seperate. “Give unto cesar what is cesars and to God what is God’s.”
