This time, she’s butting her nose into our publicly funded daycares. I love it when non-Quebecers pretend to know about my belle province then blog about it without any logic, but that’s Sarah “whoa is me, because I’m white” Landriault for ya, boys ‘n’ girls.
The government of Quebec did introduce legislation making publicly funded day care centers secular– no more religion is to be taught in such facilities. Of course, if one wants to pay for it, they can continue having faith based day care for their kids. It’s how it should be. It’s just like any school, including private schools who receive government subsidies should teach the curriculum prescribed by the Ministry of Education.
I don’t get people like Sarah. If you really insist on having religious kids, then teach it at home on your own time. By all means, take them to church or synagogue or mosque. However, religion has no place in publicly funded day cares or schools, including private schools who receive government subsidies.
By the by, dear Sarah, isn’t your blog, Choice for Child Care basically one giant slamming of publicly funded day care facilities?
Sarah, stick to your white picket fence and wonder bread life in Kemptville, Ontario and leave the heavy lifting for those of us who can. And most of all, keep your nose out of all things Quebecois.
I don’t think Landriault is as concerned with religion so much as she is worried about the evil intrusive government that is enforcing rules aimed at quashing precious “liberties” or “freedoms”…never mind that in this case, the legislation makes perfect sense.
