The Ugly Canadian. “What has happened to you guys? I thought you were the human rights good guys.”

Are we still the good guys? Hell no!

Canadians are now claiming to be Americans while overseas. American flags are being sewn onto Canadian backpacks. People all over the world are laughing at us the way they used to laugh at Bush’s Americans.

We are a laughing stock, a pariah, an evil empire in the eyes of many in the world. We have been gripped with greed. We are dismissive of the world’s needy. Women have become second-class citizens in places where the fight for equality has now been thrown out the window.

Foreign diplomats ignore Harper. Governments spurn us. Human rights groups are aghast. The elderly, minorities, the poor are all at the mercy of Harper’s cold-blooded evisceration of the rights of Canadians and those around the world we used to aid.

Any proud Canadian should be embarrassed – no, humiliated – by this boorish, authoritarian murder of Conservatives, aided and abetted by a slavish media and an opposition too busy filing its nails by the lake to lift a finger to throw Canadians a lifeline.

We are Canadian. Oops. We were Canadian. We are now the Ugly Harperians.
