Under the guise of ‘belt tightening’, Canada has turned down an invitation to attend Expo 2012 in South Korea. Or, is it a case we simply can’t we afford it as the Globe intimates in its headline? You know, our fabulous economy under the Conservatives and all. (Emphasis mine.)
Mr. Sinclair said he finds the decision counterproductive at a time when Canada is negotiating a free-trade deal with South Korea and working to improve trade ties with Asian countries.
“It seemed to me inconceivable that Canada would not go into the Asian show where all our major players are,” he said.
Canada and Greece are the only two countries to decline Expo 2012 invitations for economic reasons.
Or, is something else in play here with our fine Conservative government? James Moore knows this is South Korea, right?

We aren’t going because there would be protests every day about our abismal environmental record. We would be tarred and feathered daily, so we’re hiding in the bathroom. As a nation, we’re all hiding in the bathroom.

So our economic stability is on par with Greece? That’s pretty embarrassing for a country led by an “economist”.
This is penny wise pound foolish at its worst. Asia is the future for Canada, why not build one less prison and have a billion to spend on the best exhibit ever. Or just buy one less f35 and have enough change left to build a hospital.
Harper has his own selfish goals. He wants to concentrate on his wars. He spent billions of dollars on, his fighter jets. Building his navy, for billions. Building his gulags, for more billions. Even wasting a billion, on a stupid fake lake, for his own glory. Harper is desperately wanting to be an energy giant. He is interested in the high Arctic. He is only interested in the people, to get more taxes out of us. That’s why Harper was drooling at the mouth, for BC’s HST. He needs mega bucks, to finance his war machine. Harper is shoving off his annoyances to the provinces. Health care and meat inspections for two.
Harper is really gutting environmental studies, green house gases and such. Harper very badly wants to peddle the dirty oil sands. Harper will not even permit scientist to publish their results. Everything must go through him first. The dirty tar sands, are the reasons for the huge gutting.
Harper is not interested in anything, other than himself.
