Postmedia and Vancouver Sun wank for Air Canada

In a brilliant bit of propaganda for Air Canada (and the Cons), it took 14 paragraphs for the Vancouver Sun to actually report the news it touts in this headline, “Air Canada blames illegal job action as flights cancelled”.

Flights cancelled? Why?

After 13 paragraphs of hand-wringing for Air Canada, claims of ‘illegality’ on behalf of the pilots, and hints about ‘pilots’ actions’ comes the actual bit of information about what is happening 14 paragraphs too late:

The country’s largest carrier said Thursday it had received several reports from pilots who had been receiving calls from other pilots — identifying themselves as “Pilot X” — encouraging them to call in sick, or not come to work.

Oh. So that’s what this article is about. I was beginning to wonder. Talk about burying the lede.

Sure there’s the bit in the photo caption and sub-headline but who reads those?
