Who Will Shop at Whole Foods Now? A Twist of Irony

Remember how much of an outrage we felt when we read C.E.O. of Whole Foods after he had this op-ed published? Statements like that below led us to boycotting Whole Foods?  I told my friends in Ontario and B.C. to boycott it.

Even in countries like Canada and the U.K., there is no intrinsic right to health care. Rather, citizens in these countries are told by government bureaucrats what health-care treatments they are eligible to receive and when they can receive them. All countries with socialized medicine ration health care by forcing their citizens to wait in lines to receive scarce treatments.

Although Canada has a population smaller than California, 830,000 Canadians are currently waiting to be admitted to a hospital or to get treatment, according to a report last month in Investor’s Business Daily. In England, the waiting list is 1.8 million.

Not wanting health care reform to ensure everyone can have access to it is but one reason for our outrage. He’s also against other progressive measures like trade unions and set living wages.

I remembered when Shona Holmes and her neo-con ‘friends’ from both Canada and the U.S. were going to show support for Mackey with some stupid activity like boycott the boycott against Whole Foods.

Well, how would these neo-cons feel now about their anti-union, anti-health care reform anti anything good for society now? Yes, it seems that Whole Foods is now on a list of business boycotting fuel derived from Alberta tar sands following some lobbying from a U.S. environmental group.  Whole Foods is in good company with Bed, Bath and Beyond, an other company that answered the call from Forest Ethics. It would appear they are the only two out of all Fortune 500 companies Forest Ethics approached.

Blogging Tory ChuckerCanuck is all in an uproar, attempting to convince his fellow neo-tards to boycott the two businesses. Wow! Could it be that Mackey has redeemed himself?

“The government and industry said there was no way to track which fuel came from oil sands,” Nikki Skuce of ForestEthics said. “Whole Foods discovered that they could.”

Have they all abandoned their support for him last summer when he was the hero of the right?

Oops! Spoke too soon. Apparently, Whole Foods claims to not be able to find a supplier not dealing with Fuels derived from Alberta Tar Sands.

“We are switching fuel vendors at as many of our 10 distribution centres as possible. But in some cases there just aren’t vendors who can offer something else,” said Whole Foods spokesperson Libba Letton

Oops! Somebody probably spoke out of turn too quickly before Master Mackey can say anything. After all, his kind doesn’t believe in Climate change, right?

I say we should still boycott Whole Foods. If Neo-cons like Chucker Canuck lobby for this boycott, I say this is one time the neo-cons and the progressives can unite; but for different reasons, of course.

  • Oh, how I love it when Karma runs over somebody’s dogma…and when the cons get trapped in their own double bind, it’s doubly sweet.

Hey Bina, I still asked my mom to boycott WF, because of that HCR fiasco.

But I have to wonder where Shona Holmes and her frends are at on this one?
