I had meant to blog about CJAD’s abysmal coverage on some of the shows regarding the tragedy on the flotilla, however, I wanted to check more out on Professor Troy, who provided commentary for Tommy on Tuesday, June 1 and for Andrew Carter’s morning show yesterday, which sounded even more wingnutty than the day before if you ask me, and I’m working on other Flotilla raid pieces, which unlike other intended pieces I’ve started on other subjects, I hope to actually publish.
I wonder where they’re getting their information from? The Blogging SupposiTories? Israeli controlled media?
CJAD’s coverage was not only blatantly biased, but it was irresponsible. On Tuesday, on the Gang of 4, Kimmmeee Fraser proved to us that there is such thing as a Zionist atheist (she’s hinted for the most part that she doesn’t believe in God on her shows, which leads to the assumption of atheism; nothing wrong with that but she shouldn’t start pitting religions against each other because that is Astral’s party line) by making it a point to tell the listeners that there was a bomb on one of the ships. I tried looking for such information in the usual British and American media outlets; yes, even the right leaning ones. Couldn’t find any. So Kimmeeee, before making statements like that, provide your source, please. Shocking, because as much of a Harperite as he is, she usually does responsible research; her research assistant is far more responsible and competent than Lo-wa, so it’s shocking when she makes a blanket statement like that without being prepared to back it up. No, sorry, most Israeli media is tightly controlled and thus, not all that credible these days.
Even Israel’s foreign minister, Avigdor Lieberman never mentions a bomb or of any other heavy artillery. He does begrudge them their (the passengers of the flotilla) right to defend themselves though. Yes, only thugs and mercenaries dare to defend themselves against commandos committing piracy in his worl, but no mention of a bomb or heavier artillery as suggested.
I also remember Kimmmeee going all shrieky about our forefathers sacrificing their lives so likes of Anne Coulter can continue to spew her violence inciting hatred on our campuses.
Both of those shows and probably others I’ve missed are showing her up to be anti-Islam. Or buying into that Judaio-Christianity is superior to all. Wrong move for an atheist or at least someone who really isn’t certain of the existance of God in the first place.
The wisdom of having on McGill University Professor Gill Troy, a sometimes contributor over at The Mark and a self-proclaimed Zionist whose recent article is so over the top, (Thanks Pogge for the tip) McGill University is losing all credibility. Something told me to try to find out more about this professor. He appeared a second time yesterday morning on the Andrew Carter show and his best sommation was that we were anti-semitic; the whole world is anti-semitic; simple as that. Wow! A blanket statement like that infuriated me and no doubt, must have infuriated others.
What I don’t get is that Tommy and everybody else at Astral is that bias or just that ignorant to believe Prof Troy’s story about the Israeli commandos only being armed with paint-ball guns. The Israelis who probably have one of the most disciplined armys in the world, whose secret service agents who even board commercial flights with civilian travellers armed to the teeth but their commandos, whose purpose was to storm foreign ships who may be headed toward their shores, are only armed with paint ball guns? Is it just me who finds this proposerous and far fetched? How do nine people lose their lives by paint ball guns, alone?
I asked my family member who worked at Astral if they used Professor Troy often; he told me that to his recollection, it was the first time they ever used him and that Lo-wa, Tommy’s research producer had trouble finding someone the day before to talk to Tommy on one of his segments. I will take that to mean that Lo-wa was hard pressed to find somebody in complete lockstep with the Israeli side of things to provide the commentary they wanted to hear, rather than commentary that seems more plausible; more balanced. And no, contrary to what the shrieking right winged zionist element would say, I don’t mean commentators who are 100% pro-Palestinian; pro-Hamas necessarily. I meant commentators who would comment based on facts from reliable media sources and drawing responsible conclusions from that. There are quite a few university poli-sci professors here in town who regularly talk to the media, surely there was one or two who would have been available.
I can only imagine what other ghastly Harpercon radio show hosts like Chuckles Adler or John Tory were spewing about.
Sadly, what is being missed with this zionist talk of Muslim hatred and stand by Israel, right or wrong, is that nine people (perhaps even more, depending on what you read these days) tragically and senselessly lost their lives; eight Turkish passengers and one American of Turkish origin. Although, after listening to Kimmmmeee, Tommy the Zionist and Trude the Prude go on their Gang of Four, one can’t help but wonder if they felt these people deserved to lose their lives, because in their view, all over 600 of these passengers from approx 35 different nations were all Hamas operatives of some sort. Only Egbert Gaye brought up the loss.
They also managed to find a way to put the blame on the poverty in Gaza squarely on Hamas, which is also a fallacy. Both Hamas and the Israelis share that blame.
Sounds like something some of these Blogging SupposiTories like Maria dodo S Nunes, KKKate of Small Dead Animals or Ezzy IrreLevant would say. Perhaps that’s exactly wher Lo-wa gets her research from. Yikes!!
I thought it was bad enough when the majority of our talk show hosts go right wingnutty, that ol’ Harpercon cheerleading bit. I had no idea they wished to encourage more hatred and bigotry. Sound familiar? Ah yes! I heard somewhere Fox News does that, as does Rush Limbaugh in a more aggressive way his Canadian counterparts would love to get away with if not for that pesky regulator known as the CRTC.
And Tommy, if you advocate for absolutely, non-negotiable Israeli led investigation or forget it kind of thing, you should also perhaps advocate for our Politicians to audit their own expenses.
Oh, when you do want to take a peak at something lucid, read this op-ed in the New York Times by Amos Oz, an Israeli columnist. I hope he doesn’t lose his column for being too logical and coherent. I hope everyone else reads it too. Very interesting take. Thanks, Montreal Simon!
