Moving Day Has Come!

Finally, boys ‘n’ girls, CK and husband have a new home. Got the keys and we start moving this evening if the unpredictable weather can remain stable for the next 24 hours.  It woulda been fun to have another green December just this year, or even for only the first few weeks just until we were moved into our new apartment, but that is not to be.

It took awhile to get to this point. Much wrangling, illness on my part, family feuding with my in-laws who currently surround us, necessary repairs our landlords (who are also my in-laws of sorts) they stubbornly refused to do that endangered both of our health.  Not to mention, the noise level upstairs from my stepsons; I still am wondering who  the moron was who gave my step son drums for his Birthday two years ago. We’re finally getting away from them all! And not a moment too soon. I am exhausted from the fighting and the health issues.  For awhile it looked as though I was going to cash in and take a short term sick leave from work, but I somehow managed to continue working anyway, with absences. Quite the ordeal indeed.  And I’ve barely scratched the surface.

It’s largely why I had asked Jymn to join me at Sister Sage’s Musings as I couldn’t blog that often in September and October. Jymn was (still is) a regular commenter here and he’s always been supportive, so I figured he’d be a good fit and he is, as every contributor here is.  Kim was already here, but I wanted to have someone who was a regular blogger to take over for that time. Then, low and behold, I had emails from Logan, TorontoEmerg, and later on, Orwell’s Bastard,  who were interested in blogging here.  I’m amazed at how, sometimes, some things can fall into place when you need them too.  I am grateful that I have managed to assemble a diverse group of center left bloggers from different parts of the country and outside to join me here and did fabulously at keeping Sister Sage’s Musings not only current, but actually added so much more to it.

Now, as I’m typing amidst the sea of boxes, suitcases, garbage bags full of clothes to go to charity and disassembled furniture, I am letting you all know I will be away from this blog as well as Twitter for a few days. Hell, I won’t even be able to answer emails right away. In about an hour, we will be unhooking the computer and moving it tonight to our new home and won’t have internet reconnected until at least Tuesday (at least, that’s what the Videotron man said). Jymn will be moderating comments until I come back, so please behave yourselves.

I will leave you with a few moving blooper videos, because we all have moving blooper stories to tell.

A commercial move;

And this one is cute; how not to move a closet

    I hope you have lots of help ck. Best wishes in your new digs. Sometimes a change is as good as a rest.

    You have my sincere sympathies. I have vowed never, ever to move again. When I leave this place it’ll have to be feet first. Packing, cleaning, moving, cleaning, unpacking, cleaning.
