Ellie Horgan for First Lady

I want my 5 readers to know that I have joined the BCNDP.  I have been pondering how to accomplish this without money.  I understood that you had to have $10.00 to join the party.  I live on a low budget.  $10.00 is out of reach until the end of the month.  I went to visit my brother and sister-in-law today and they had the membership application forms delivered to them by thier neighbour, Ellie Horgan.  Upon reading the forms, I discovered that if you cannot afford to pay the minimum fee, you can pay what you can afford.  I filled out the form and so did my partner and I delivered them nextdoor.   I paid with the change in my pocket.

Ellie Horgan answered my knock on the door.  I introduced myself and explained that I wanted to join the party and that I didn’t have the $20.00.  She immediately asked me inside out of the cold.  She is an effervescent person who made me feel like an old friend in minutes as we conversed.  She is pumped.  Excited.  Terrified.  Her husband has done a brave and audacious thing and Ellie glows with the excitement of the challenge.  She told me the story of how they met 31 years ago, as they entered university.  She told me how John got down on one knee and told her, “We’ll never be rich, I’ll never be able to give you everything you want, but I promise you, we’ll always have fun”.  She smiled as she told me that story, a wide, happy smile.

It occurred to me that the old saying “Behind every great man…” is true, as much as the feminist in me hates to subjegate the female role in society.  The fact is that women generally provide the stability that allows for greatness in thier immediate circle.  Ellie has that in spades.  She will make a great First Lady.

Which brings me to the subject of the First Lady.  We have not had one in this country since Maureen MacTeer and Maurgerite Trudeau that I am aware of.  Which is a sad indictment of Canadian culture, in my view.  Apparently, women are seen (at photo ops) but not heard in this country.  I really liked and respected Maureen and Maggie for having the courage to accept media attention on their own terms.  Why?  Because they accepted their status and decided to use it in the advancement of our culture.  Ellie Horgan has the personality and the love in her soul to do all that.  Vote for John Horgan, you’ll get Ellie for free!

Ellie sounds heavenly, a balm to the BC people, who have been constantly kicked in the face, by Campbell and the BC Liberals. What I have heard about John. He is very well respected by, even opposition members. I am going to look for John Horgan’s web site. He sounds like a voice of reason, in the insanity we have been forced to live in. We must never allow, what the BC Liberals have done to the BC province and people, ever happen to us again. I don’t know what will be left of BC by the time, of the next election. BC is at the very bottom, of all the provinces, because of the HST. BC people spend billions of dollars, shopping in the U.S. because, of the HST. People by the Alberta border shop there, also because of the HST. This province is terminally ill right now. But, with a good honest Premier, the BC people can at last trust, we can work together and try to undo the horrific damage, Campbell and the BC Liberals have done to our beautiful province, and make BC healthy again.

MSM have been making the statement that the deadline for signing up new NDP members was Monday the seventeenth without clarifying that the deadline is for members who are eligible to vote for the new party leader.

One can still become a member anytime, and even if one can’t vote in the leadership race, membership fees, donations and volunteering still help the party a lot.

Of course anyone who wants to help John Horgan win the leadership and then the government should help in any way they can. A membership is a good place to start and there is no “deadline” to join or tell your friends.

Of course, that’s a very good point.

Thanks, Kim, for your kind words! I can’t read it without blushing.
The best part of John’s political life, for me, are the people I’ve met. I’ve forwarded the link to my parents, because I know it will brighten their day.
