At least, in part anyway?
Another conspiracy theory perhaps, but is it so far-fetched? I mean, after getting such a public boot and Steve obviously, dutifully putting square pegs into round holes in an effort to justify keeping her around only to give her such a public boot out of conservative caucus that should have sent her running as far away as she can from Ottawa. Surely, there is more to come. Why on earth would she stay on as an independant? Why would anyone with half her troubles?
Could it be that this whole debacle of yesterday’s was planned by Steve or at least, senior Harpercons in advance? I mean, do Bob Fife and Iggy have a point when they find this house purchase of Guergis suspect?
My guess is that she won the riding of Simcoe-Grey by a thin margin, indicating that the riding would be far from being considered a ‘safe’ Harpercon seat. The folks in her riding basically want her gone, they have expressed that much.
Steve, on the hand, while his numbers are higher than those of the Liberals, they still reflect that if an election were held today, he would only yield another minority, even a reduced minority. He can ill afford to lose any seats now. If Guergis were to go, the seat would be empty and thus, a nomination would have to take place for the cons, and the inevitable by-election. Something tells me that no matter who the Harpercons would nominate to run in Simcoe-Grey; he or she would lose, thus, surely giving an extra seat to the liberals.
Yes Bob Fife, Iggy and others who are suspicious of this mortgage deal may well have reason to be. But, for Iggy, it would be a bad idea to devote his time sticking to that issue. What Iggy should do is keep an eye on that without pouncing at every little thing. If he continues on that path, he too, could alienate the voters of Simcoe-Grey and they perhaps vote in an NDP candidate or even vote in the new Harpercon by simply staying home and not voting.
Hey CK,
Helena is becoming a side show.
The Afghan detainee issue, and allegations of a government complicit in torture are far more important than hurricane Helena.
Refusal to recognize parliamentary supremacy, and hand over unredacted documents, and respect the Canadian Constitution, are also more important.
Who knows at this point, what is going on.
I would just like Harpo, and company out of office.
Best Regards,
Sir Gallahad
