My question is: how many married men with families were among the crowd? “Hey honey, I’m going to be late tonight. Just have to burn a police car.” I’m not saying our dwindling marriage rate is responsible for looting and violence. But marriage does, some theorize, civilize young men. I’d have to guess the numbers of family men among that crowd were low.
Oh yeah! Civilized, like Greg Fultz the billboard boy, or other married ‘civilized’ men at home beating the crap out of their spouses and/or kids. Or how about Paul Bernardo and Karla Homulka? Yep, savagely raping and torturing Kristen French and Leslie Mahaffey to death is such a ‘civilized’ activity. I could continue the list, but I’m getting tired, now and my readers know where I’m going with this.
Also, how would Andrea know there weren’t any married folks involved in the raids? For that matter, how does she know that those involved were all men? Get with it Andrea, many women luv their hockey as much as the men do these days.
So, she is also advocating for teen-agers to get married and have scads of kids rather than say, continue their education or live out their youth? Babies having babies. Yep, very responsible and civilized, indeed.
Like I said earlier, stupid is as stupid does.
It’s the fault of the wimmins you see. If they knew their natural place in natural law, they’d be the angelic calming influence on their big strong mates who have no personal ability to rein in violent Beastly urges without a Beauty and beautettes.
But wimmins is putting their own selfish needs first and putting off babbys and world saving mantaming in favour of careers and money that serve no one but themselves.
So, what’s a guy to do when faced with such a horrendous life tragedy as his hockey team losing the chance to caretake a sports trophy? There are also dogs and cats sleeping together because of such selfish women. Raining blood. Plagues of frogs. The degeneracy never stops. Oh, the humanity that could have been if not for the black souls of women wanting to control their own lives instead of babysitting grown men *and* babbys.
The rioters in Vancouver were going to riot if the Canucks won or lost. It’s not like it was a secret. They were building up to it for weeks.
What I want to know is, why weren’t the police ready? For some reason, I used to look to them to control rioters, not women barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen. The police now seem fond of standing back, watching the carnage and then blaming lefties. I can’t help but feel this will be used as an excuse to crack down G20 style on all future civil protest in Van.
Most of the people I saw in those pictures didn’t look old enough to be married even if they “should” be… Andrea’s work is getting a little old. Only the pretext is ever different. The rest of the article is always about how we’re not getting married often enough.
I agree with Niles. In 1994, the Canucks lost and there was a riot. In 1993, the Canadiens won and there was a riot. Corral a hundred thousand drunk hockey goons into the downtown core and see what happens. And let’s not even START making comparisons to English football…
figures. That’s the same dumb-ass logic that people use when they say women wearing burkas prevents rape. Repressing people through restrictive laws or through restrictive lifestyles doesn’t get rid of the urge to act out. It just intensifies it.
Education is the key, but hell, that costs money and takes too much work. The dumb-asses would have to actually think for themselves occasionally.
When I read about those riots, my first thought was it’s a damn shame those people can’t get as angry, worked up, and active over things that matter like poverty, equal rights, free speech, our democracy, selling asbestos to other countries, opposing measures to fight climate change, domestic abuse, aboriginal rights…it’s not like their options to find a cause are limited.

Worse, those that are worked up enough to attend peaceful protests will now face even more draconian policing against public demonstrations thanks to these yobs.
Based on the idiocy of those rioters who felt it a badge of courage to post the details of their participation on Facebook, I certainly don’t want them parenting any time soon.
